do you understand the concept of money spent by the manager this season ...and not off setting money spent by selling players

you're missing the point I was making totally. I'm not a believer in net spend really, for me the only fair way to judge is to look at the average cost of the squad through the season and compare it with other sides. On that basis we're trying to compete with sides costing £100m or so more than us, which is unrealistic.

I mentioned net spend in relation to a post, but even so, on that basis, its still not enough when you're playing catchup and trying to close the gap. If we want to catchup to the top 3 we need serious investment, and £35m net is simply not enough. Or to put it another way, we need a starting 11 and bench of somewhere in the region of £230m.

I agree, but i seriously wonder how much kenny had to do with it. It was Comolli who got sacked. I personally blame an absolute piss poor scouting system. But then Kenny should be more clued up on the ****e hes getting touted.

Or I may be wrong and it was all kenny's fault. In which case he will be "stepping down" next month. He will never be sacked.

It's going to be even more difficult for us now, with the FFP rules (if ever those rules are going to be applied by the letter of the law).

Massive investment spent on utter dross with only Suarez who could be considered a success. Wasted money will set us back a couple of years, I get the feeling FSG will be massively ****ed off at the way things have panned out.

Why don't you explain how the "net spend" argument applies to the expenditure under Kenny?

Bang on, Any top manager coming in to any club should have a knowledge of the market and his favourites. We just looked at the assists table and bought off that

What? won't the FFP rules (if applied fairly) stop the likes of Chelsea and the blue mancs spending way above their means?

City have already spent a significant amount and have a much better squad, so we're playing catch up. They've got CL football and have just won the PL.

We spent enough to challenge and probably get a CL place.

Challenge for 4th probably, not for the league though.
