They're all top internationals who should collectively be more than capable of beating the likes of Swansea. There is no excuse what so ever.

The league is the only true barometer. The acid test for management and players. The bread and butter as shanks once said. Fair enough to say it's been a complete write off. This hasn't been a vintage league season either. Chelsea and Arsenal have had moderate seasons by their standards.
Good to see FSG wiping the decks clean with a lot of the administrative staff. We have been inept for years. I'd bomb Ayre back into the commercial department. Good to see they have a ruthless streak. Can't see KD surviving
Skrtel player of the year for me. Not real stand out performers.Last edited by FrankB34; 13-05-12, 11:33 PM.

Its mad really when you think about it. A competition won by a Premier League side, contested at Wembley is worth only 4 times more than Ronnie OSullivan picked up recently or 3 times the average house price in the UK at the moment. This for a sport where the average player must be earning £2m or so a year. It just doesn't make any sense.Originally posted by sean_lfc View PostWhichever way you want to look at it, the prize money for the CC final is about 1 million quid. The prize money for the FA cup is **** knows 2 million quid if that.
The prize money for CL qualification (ie. the first game you actually play in the 3rd round qualifications) is more than 3 millions quid.
Go. ****ing. Figure.
It's nice to have the CC in the bag, but in terms of business revenue, it's ****ing nothing. You might as well sell a couple of shirts more in Malaysia and be better off.
This season has been a complete shambles and I'm really looking forward to see how this summer pans out.
Football only has itself to blame, players wages are just so far out in comparison to the revenue of most clubs. A financial disaster, it probably goes against everything written in the big book on running a successful business, and thats why so many clubs almost go under these days. Wages need to be capped, thats the only way forward.Last edited by Suarez; 13-05-12, 11:57 PM.

We must finish in the top 4 next season. Not only to keep the likes of Suarez at the club but to also attract the best players from around the world.
I was for giving Kenny another year, but i think it's time he moved into another role at the club and we brought Rafa back to the club as manager. He can take us back to where we belong.
We can't afford to fall further behind.

the quicker the better. Either a public statement supporting Kenny to take us forward or get him to resign.

The season is quite ambivalent to me.
Positive:
* We have moved forward as club since the position we were in 18 months ago, 1 day from administration, coming from a poor season in the league made worse by Hodgson and general lack of investment, to a somewhat stabalized club with a better squad.
* We play better football than we have in a long time, control most matches and create enough chances.
* The press leaks and bickering around the club have mostly stopped. As well as the constant battles in the press.
* Our owners seems resolute.
* We have a number of talents in the club/squad.
* Cup win and another cup final - been far to long since we won anything!
* Most importantly: we have something to build upon, unlike 18 months ago.
Negative:
* Our league form have been **** this season.
* We have a consistently poor squad at finishing chances (under 10% ffs)
* Midfield is not strong enough overall.
* We have to many mentally weak players that needs to be carried.
* The racism thing
* Lucas being injured.
* The impatience surrounding the club right now.Last edited by Darkon; 14-05-12, 07:52 AM.

Can't really argue with any of that.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You dont actually get a ton of money for the CL qualificationOriginally posted by sean_lfc View PostWhichever way you want to look at it, the prize money for the CC final is about 1 million quid. The prize money for the FA cup is **** knows 2 million quid if that.

You get it for playing in the subsequent tournament next season
The League & FA Cup might only get you a small amount of prize money but it does give you access to the Europa Cup also
Yes the amounts that can be earned in the Europa Cup are small by comparison to the CL but you should maybe have included them to give a little validation to your pointBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
