Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I honestly think that our squad is better served to work within AVB's system than Chelsea's is though. It'll do wonders for Henderson. Lucas would be ideal at the back of the midfield 3 and even Downing may benefit from the rigid task and finish nature of a role (although I appreciate that may be wishful thinking).

The Carra issue worries me. As does the fact that I think within a 433 Stevie's best position would be on the right of the 3. He didn't want to do it as a virile young buck so goodness knows how he'll react now. Anyway, I'd feel more secure of AVB's ability to foot his print if Carra had already called it day.

So with back up in def midfield, a creative option for the whole and a good calibre back up striker we could really do some damage with AVB.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

He ticks all the boxes. It would be a terrible own goal by FSG (after the shambles that has been going on since they took over) NOT to at least consider him. He's got the experience and probably now has had the time off the game to recharge his batteries to be even better!

Simple decision to me. **** all that list of 10/12 that they have.
          Are we winning?

I have my reservations about AVB; however he is the best candidate * for a long term appointment so I would be ironically pleased

            Edit:* obviously not including Rafa

I'm not so sure - recently Gerrard has been rubbish out of possession. Lucas is an interesting one as his 'standing in the right place' approach to the game would either be ideally suited or get utterly ****ed up by the approach IMO (I tend towards the former but I'm a Lucas fanboi). I think you might be right about Henderson though.

In a lot of ways I see dealing with Carragher/Gerrard as one of the big challenges for an incoming manager. As is integrating young players. I think AVB might be good for the latter task.

The Rafa pictures just make me sad at the minute. I'd love him back.

Would love to see what AVB would do with Texiera.

The Porto and Academica players were able to understand his ideas. Is it the case that Chelsea players are simply too thick?

Villas Boas' philosophy focuses heavily on the technical and tactical side of the game, much like Benitez. The Chelsea squad clearly weren't used to that and that's why he wanted to get rid of as many as eight players in the summer. He wanted intelligent players, much like Rafa does.

This doesn't bode well for many of our players, but I'd be delighted to see our team ripped up in favour of long term intelligence and a clear style of play, most likely a 4-3-3, although he did use a 4-2-3-1 system toward the end of his reign at Chelsea.

I want AVB over Rafa. Partly just to piss off the people who take their support of Rafa to a fanatical extreme.

My problem is we would be selling players at the lowest point in their valuation and not have the money to buy in enough quality replacements (+ the likely period of acclimatisation for all involved).

For me if he has that long term goal he has to have a short term plan that gets him there whilst causing less turmoil.
