If I may qualify, I would prefer him to Martinez. But not to the likes of Capello and 'He who shall not be named'.

Shaggy, how reliable is this guy? (tariq panja not Lecter )

          Mourinho pens new Real deal
          Jose agrees Madrid extension

Spanish champions Real Madrid have confirmed that coach Jose Mourinho has penned a new four-year deal with the club.

The Portuguese tactician has long been linked with a return to English football, with former club Chelsea one of those strongly linked.

Mourinho has now dismissed any suggestions that he could depart the Santiago Bernabeu this summer by signing a two-year extension to his current deal which had two years remaining.

A statement on the Madrid website read: "Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho have reached an agreement to extend the coach's contract with the club until June 30, 2016."

The 49-year-old, who moved to Madrid in May 2010, led them to the Copa del Rey crown in his first season in charge and in the campaign just completed he guided the club to their first Primera Division title since 2008.

Madrid's title success, which ended Barcelona's three-year reign as Spanish champions, saw Mourinho become the first coach to win the league in Spain, England (Chelsea) and Italy (Inter Milan).

Mourinho is also one of only three coaches to have won the Champions League with separate teams having led Porto to the crown in 2004 and Inter in 2010.

He has also won numerous other trophies during a hugely successful coaching career that began with Benfica in 2000.

Didn't ever really think he was a possibility but a guy could hope. Despised him at the Chavs but the guy is a winner...

that board member is no longer at LFC, but i wouldn't be surprised if moyes was in the mix somewhere
He might not make us world beaters but he'd make the team tougher both mentally and physically, he'd take no ****ing around and we'd be a much harder proposition to play against in the league under him which at the end of the day is what we're all after.

I like Moyes but I'm clearly in a minority here. I also don't think he'd take it as he's very loyal to Everton.

He's not my first choice btw before people start having a pop.

Reads worse than it is I think, kinda reads like he's choosing guys to go and see the owners but more likely he's been given a load of guys and he has to set up interviews etc.

I think we need to employ someone rapidly just to end the endless amount of rumour and heresay on Twitter.

Oh, and slowly but surely get rid of Ayre, the guy is clearly out of his depth.
Lacks the relative chrisma, and depth of experience for the post, particularly as he is now the public face of LFC. We are at the very least portraying ourselves as a ****ing shambles right now. Ayre is at the helm right now, yet we seem to be a totally rudderless ship. Sacking the director of Comms in advance of all of this was a bad move as we should be controlling the media activity.

just caught the end of talksport and some guy was saying that it will be quite a while before they choose anyone yet, as in a few weeks.

we can put the thread to sleep and stop checking every minute

What's he done wrong then, His boss sacked the manager last week and he's now apparently working on a replacement, he's not said anything publicly yet has he ?

He can't stop the newspaper hype that'll happen whatever he does.

                        Give him a chance.

My love of football is balancing on a string of thread anyway.

The bloke was James Pearce from The Echo.

TBH that's what I thought anyway...be a while yet. And I don't mind - prefer them to be thorough and take their time. To a degree. Needs sorting before the Euros start.

Its more what he's not done. Obviously getting rid of him right now would be madness. But as MD he should be managing this process and also the media, to keep the baying hordes satisfied.

PR wise I don't think we have managed this process all that well. I agree on the hype, but I don't think the amount of managers that have reportedly turned us down reads well. Put it this way Chelsea are managing to move towards their decision a bit more subtly.

So a London paper has, fortunately, discovered a way to give a story about Liverpool a London angle which means they can write about it, so making lots of London football fans read their paper. Hmm.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
