This is such a dreadful article. Nothing of value in it and just a whole bunch of pathetic jabs at the club. Matt Porter should worry about his own club.Originally posted by Lecter View PostWhy would anyone want to manage Liverpool?
The high number of candidates to manage at Anfield proves they aren't what they once were
By Matt Porter 18 hours ago
The high number of candidates means nothing of the sort, it's a thorough process that requires speaking to a number of candidates. Why not listen to some different ideas before making such a hugely important decision.
Brendon Rodgers, Frank De Boer and Didier Deschamps distance themselves from the vacant Liverpool manager position. Matt Porter says the Reds are in decline.
A mate sent me a text message the other day: “to save on costs Liverpool FC have scrapped their own TV channel and merged it with the History Channel.” It wasn’t necessarily the funniest text ever, but it was succinct and to the point – and probably not a million miles away from reflecting the truth.
It's not funny and it is a million miles from the truth. Idiotic comment.
If you look at the last 50 years, rather than just the Premier League era, it’s not hard to argue that they’re the most successful English club globally – and they’ve certainly suffered enough tragedy to rock them to their Anfield foundations.
But Liverpool is a club stuck between the glorious achievements of their past and the fear of their future. They can’t let the former go and they find it tough to face up to what could be on the horizon.
"Roberto Martinez will still not be best pleased at being thrown in the mix with all manner of mercenaries"
Not sure what this is on about.
Their fans sing more about Steve Heighway and Bill Shankly than they do any of their modern day charges, and it’s hard to imagine Roy Hodgson would have been tolerated for an eighth place Premier League finish below Everton in the same way King Kenny was, with or without the token of the Carling Cup.
That's simply not true. I assume this is in relation to Anfield Road which is a popular song but we still sing about almost all of the current team and always have done. That's cheap illinformed point scoring.
Brendan Rogers, brave and clever enough to reject a short term windfall at Chelsea, has also declined this so-called step up, and Roberto Martinez, who admittedly has served a longer apprenticeship than Rodgers, will still not be best pleased at being thrown in the mix with all manner of mercenaries although could still find the prospect too appealing to reject.
It's not a "so-called step up" it's a step up. Globally a huge club, one of the largest fan base in world football, glorious past and working towards a succesful structure to move the club forward. Who are these mercenaries they speak of and what business is it of any potential candidates regarding who we interview.
The fact that some bookmakers have priced over 50 candidates for the job shows the problem Liverpool have. When Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger call it a day will there be that many names linked with their roles?
It shows nothing of the sort, it shows that the bookies are looking to make money, what are they going to do, run a one name book? Their pricing on 50 candidates is not a reflection of what is happening at the club. In answer to the question, I would say yes there will be a huge number of nonsense candidates for either of those two posts too.
Liverpool are "scattergunning their way through the LMA’s contacts directory"
No, there’ll be two or three stand out candidates and their boards will know who to move on and in which order, rather than scattergunning their way through the LMA’s contacts directory.
Utter ****.
Liverpool’s creaking Anfield holds memories but no future for them. Spurs have a new project underway and Chelsea have gone public on Battersea Power Station.
Spurs project hasn't started and even earlier this year were still deciding where to move to in exactly the same manner as ourselves. Chelsea are bankrolled by one of the richest men on the planet so the whims of a billionaire aren't the reality for 99% of football clubs. Either way both these scenarios are fictitious as neither is in a new ground.
Theoretically within a decade Liverpool could find themselves not only mid-table in the football table, but also the capacities table.
Theoretically, this guy might write something of value one day. It's no revelation we need a new stadium so this rhetoric is utterly pointless.
You can’t throw history books at the stars of the European stage or the boardrooms of the multinationals that love to be associated with the biggest clubs and expect them to come running.
You can respectfully thumb your way through the glossy pictures of trophies being held aloft, but it’s the blank page that sits in front of Liverpool at the moment that’s in need of the right words.
Ok, so Chelsea just became the FIRST London club to win a European cup yet it's inferred that we can't show off the brilliant history of our club. Of course we have to modernise but what other club is told to shut up about their history. It's such a lame dig that all fans trott out about us always banging on about our history, why wouldn't we? Would much rather be talking about our recent league win but that isn't happening right now so instead we take pride in our previous achievements while Arsenal continue to play pretty football and win **** all.

No one spends 300m on a club to keep it mid table.
Fsg have a plan and im sure its not going to be popular but I think theyre moving towards that. I think they want a groudshare with everton.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. Little does in football these days.Originally posted by el matador View PostNo one spends 300m on a club to keep it mid table.

I can see FSG spending serious money again on players this summer once we have the management team in place. £50m upwards + player sales.
That's probably why they sacked KK, they couldn't trust him to spend the money wisely and it was just too risky to get it wrong again this year. Crucial window.
