Martinez strikes me as the managerial equivalent of signing Charlie Adam, Stuart Downing and Jordan Henderson. Someone who looks good at a small club, but is unproven when it comes to playing with the big boys.
Odds are with all of the failures we have had, it could be it that he does work, but it hardly fills me with awe. He is only slightly less underwhelming than Hodgeson was, and not likely to be the person to lift spirits. I would say a marquee signing of some kind is required to get us excited for the new season, otherwise we will be going into to it feeling a little depressed or uninspired, and that rubs off on the players.
Whom ever it is, I hope they succeed, but Martinez is low on my list.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Fair enough, he is however and extremely talented young manager who sides play football on the ground and are easy on the eyeOriginally posted by Charly View PostMartinez strikes me as the managerial equivalent of signing Charlie Adam, Stuart Downing and Jordan Henderson. The thing is that there are many managers out there that play wonderful style of play and there are also easy on the eye and if speculations are correct we haven't approached them.Originally posted by MrNice View PostFair enough, he is however and extremely talented young manager who sides play football on the ground and are easy on the eye
My issue with Martinez is that he has no credentials whatsoever except saving Wigan from relegation if you consider that worthy of a praise.
In the past managers would need to have some extremly strong accomplishments and still may not be good enough for LFC and I am worried that our standards may be so low these days especially as the CL winning manager is available, willing and more than capable of taking over where he left off.
Martinez may be young and upcoming manager but for me he has not been managing at the high level and long enough to be considered for the job of this size nor I think he is ready yet.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
