Maybe he won't like it? Maybe he'll be ****? Maybe because I don't care and I'd love to see him back at Liverpool?

Let me go on the record (because anyone gives a **** what I say) that my pick of realistic targets would be AVB IF he can change tactics and be flexible in our set up and not force a 4-3-3 down our throats. If he is a young guy with a "system" and he just goes from club to club playing his system, I don't think we have the players to implement a great 4-3-3.

I would have Rafa back in a second but I can't see the club having him back, sadly.

Anyway, I do want to say, I think people are judging Martinez harshly because he comes form a small club. It is not his match management that made Wigan struggle to stay up; he has a **** team full of **** players working on a shoestring. And yet they put up some amazing results in the second half of the season, including beating United, Newcastle (4-0), Arsenal and us. I watched a few of those matches and they played a very organized style with some very nice attacking play going forward that, lo and behold, resulted in goals and truly competitive games against clubs with much better players. It's not like hiring Martinez turns Suarez into DiSanto or Liverpool into Wigan. Anyway, you can't judge a manager from a small club by his limitations; staying up at Wigan with the players Wigan have is a triumph. They can afford no one. How would Kenny or Rafa have done at Wigan?

That said, I am not 100% convinced by him either and he is not my first choice, I would take AVB, but if he does join us, it is a ballsy move and it may pay off. I've seen much worse football than what Wigan put out there. With the right players and the right club, you never know.

Seriously, I reckon Jurgen Klopp would be the best man for for the job, but can't see him wanting to leave BVB. While I wouldn't mind seeing capello or van gaal they are too old for the long term.

That leaves AVB or rafa. I don't have a good feeling about Benitez returning, I enjoyed his reign while he was here but IMO to see him return would be a mistake.

Rodgers and Martinez are promising managers but I think the step up from Wigan or Swansea could be too big, and the club really cannot afford to gamble so dangerously ATM.

AVB has the ability to persuade top players to join him, he is young and has title winning experience as well as big club experience. I think if he came here he is capable of building a dynasty for the long term. However he is not a contingency manager and I'm not sure how adaptable his philosophy is as well as how good he is at working with what he will inherit (some good players, some very average ones) could he make these players perform out of their skin? In the same way managers like Rafa, o'neill and whiskey nose can?

Great interview that, just underlines why I'm praying they make the right decision and bring Rafa back.

Maybe Jen Chang can have a word with his new bosses.

This is in the event that Guardiola rejects us, which is almost a guarantee
I know there is a lot of negativity about Martinez, and he's by no means my first choice, but I'd find a setup like that rather exciting.

I would love us to win the Premiership, but that is becoming increasingly difficult given our financial limitations compared to other clubs. I think we can be comfortable with our expectations to reach second, third or fourth most seasons. We need a manager capable of getting the most out of the relatively limited finances we have at our disposal and we certainly can't afford to pay over the odds for crap/average players.
There are only 2 sides who we can't really compete with financially at the moment, city and Chelsea and that may change dependant on what happens with the FFP stuff.

Just imagine, First game of the season, Rafa & Lucas both back where they should be, at the heart of the team, magnificent.

ok ok so it'll be back to zonal marking but hey we could live with that.
