Again, there are so many factors in this to make that irrelevant. I assume it is referring to the league which means it is ignoring european and cup competition (including winning the FA cup). On top of this the last two games in the league they played weakened teams.

In no way did AVB perform better than Di Matteo.

At the stage of his career he is at he is making the right choice if he is confident in his own ability.
If he's confident in his own ability he should go for it and get a significant pay rise in the process.

I reckon he thinks he has no chance and him going for interview will put transfer targets off who he needs to wrap up early. He's just scared stiff he won't get it and tbf he likely has a point.

He might also take Swansea down next year (2nd season syndrome) and never get offered a top level job again.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I actually think it was the correct choice, and it's great to see some loyalty in football, but he might still live to regret that one day.

Agreed, doesnt mention that they were getting worse and worse under AVB, were virtually out of the CL etc and now have an FA Cup and are on the verge of winning the CL. Not to mention in Di Matteo's short amount of league games he had to go to Anfield, Arsenal and Man City.

Although I don't blame anyone for being dubious of new posters on Est, this time it's actually genuine

Ha, true... but arguably he learnt from his mistakes at Reading and Swansea are benefiting from that. Could be that last season was a flash in the pan for Swansea but we'll know after next season if he can keep it going. Would much rather see a team like Swansea come up and stay up rather than fecking Stoke.

Ah fair shout, just learn to be suspicious with the Est lot, was only joking anyway.

Welcome anyhoo, we seem to have a prolific poster on our hands.

Strikes me as a potential George Burley. He did a great job with Ipswich, took a newly promoted team to 5th and played great football. Next season he spent some money and got them relegated.

Agreed. My mates in work were pissing themselves that he "turned us down" when in fact IF he was offered an interview I'm sure he realised it wasn't ever going to work out.
