I think the lack of information actually coming out of the club is fueling the current hysteria. Nuggets of pure speculation are thrown by bloggers and journos are quickly being gobbled up by fans as facts. It's laughable. The fans seem to want it all ways. If stuff is made public the accusations of "washing dirty linen in public" come out. If the club say nothing they are accused of being rudderless and non transparent. Where did the "12 candidates" **** come from? Where has the Laudrup rumour come from? From journalists who aren't in the loop and don't like knowing as little as you or I.
Pre season is what? seven or eight weeks away. There's plenty of time to get the new manager (AVB)
in, sign a few new players and get our act together for the start of the new season in August. FWIW I don't think FSG really wanted Kenny on a permanent basis and will only now really put their original plans into action. I think they deserve an opportunity to do that. Some of our fans seem intent on complaining about everything and anything and it's just getting tedious IMO.

        Good post
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

well now you are getting hung up on the technicality of the term. my point remains that in big business organisations there are often more than 12 candidates vying for top jobs so why shouldn't there be that many for a big football club like LFC which is an organisation.

I don't understand why you wouldn't want FSG to carefully consider a variety of managers, so what if alot of names on the list are un-realistic, i think they know that but at least they are seeking every possible avenue for the future. Its a critical decision, not one to be taken lightly or without a personal knowledge of the new potential managers.

If some managers can't handle the fact they have to be interviewed and then considered for the job amongst other candidates then they need to sort out their egos because thats what virtually everybody in the normal workforce does.

I agree with you lil luis.

The only problem I have is with Dave Whelan opening his mouth about Martinez and the nugget seeming to be fed to the media about 12 candidates. Now we look like a joke publicly. People may see that figure and think 'oh, I've got no chance'. Even more, with Rafa's name being used by the media as being on the shortlist/not on the shortlist, it's created a toxic element as seen on RAWK whereby anyone else isn't good enough.

In private, it makes sense though. It's just the wrong soundbites given to the press and Dave Whelan that's ruined an alright process. Don't trust the men running the process though.

This is true, its a big job theres always going to be lots of speculation but i think realistically there is only 2 maybe 3 candidates for the job.

I would tend to agree with this but if you look at last summer, all of the rumours were correct. They seem to be quite lazy with keeping secrets.

Hit the nail on the head, really hate when people from other clubs leak the information about players or managers, its happened before and im pretty sure we have walked away from deals for it. Its not the liverpool way, would have been to our advantage to force the issue of keeping it behind closed doors.

I'm not sure that is fair as most of the time he has had to sell his best players. Whilst his PR company seem to be doing a good job for him at the minute and he does seem like a genuine football man Whelan my impression was that Whelan has been trying to sell the club in the last few years which has hampered any attempt at real progress.
