As for Frank de Boer, very disappointed that he's not interested but not remotely surprised. Two trophies in 18 months at Ajax - a club he clearly loves - despite boardroom problems and a young squad.

Still hoping we've made contact with Jogi Low though, even though he has signed an extension until 2014. Worth a call, see if he fancies it.

All this 12 man list is a bit baffling tbh.Where has it even come from?

No manager who is an a decent job is going to risk losing faith in his team and supporters by sitting an interview for a job he may or may not get.

Whats De boer going to say to Ajax if he doesn't get the job? Oh, I didnt really want it anyway?

It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Wonder if Rafa knew he was nailed on for LFC when we approached him ?

Then again he'd achieved in a huge league, knew Barca and Madrid would return stronger, and was ready for the step up to World famous side..

Thing is with these managers, is it really such a big risk ? if they left clubs like Ajax, Swansea! etc. after being seen as successful, and failed at LFC, clubs of the size they left would still be falling over themsleves to hire them. imo.

I don't believe the long list stuff, unless its for all of the jobs available at LFC, then it seems a bit short.

Maybe Deboer is put off by any possible links between LFC and Cruyff for DoF position?

Rafa wasn't happy at Valencia though and if rumours are to be believed, the deal was done with Rafa months before it was announced.

If you mean Suraez,I think de boer joined Ajax only a few months before he joined us.And don't forget he had a lengthy ban as well for biting an opponent so I don't think he actually played for long under him.

                    1. What do they know about football
                    2. Astonvilla aint exactly going too well
                    3. Rafa was hung out to dry by H&G.
                    4. Can I be bothered to quit my good job at (insert club name here) to go to a club that clearly has no direction and would be a hugh risk at this time..

The former Chelsea manager André Villas-Boas and Wigan's Roberto Martínez are now seen as the frontrunners for the position at Liverpool, and both will hold talks with Anfield officials this week.

Rafael Benítez, who has made no secret of his desire to return to the club where he won the Champions League in 2005, has not yet been approached although John W Henry, the principal owner, may consider interviewing the Spaniard depending on the outcome of the talks with Villas-Boas and Martínez.

I'm sorry but asking this many managers is inviting people to reject us, give them stronger footings at their own clubs like Martinez got at Wigan by rejecting Villa.. Its dragging us through the mud, it's getting embarrassing tbh!

Yeah good point, hadn't factored that into my thinking, forgot about his Table leg/Lamp thing.

Would have been no problem then.

Well, the Villa situation and the Rafa thing are moot points - this isn't H&G and we're a completely different kettle of fish to Villa in the sense that we have a MUCH better squad and are looking for a manager to point us back towards the top four while they're looking for a manager who can keep their ****ty squad away from relegation.

Mainly, I'd say it's 4 - Klopp and de Boer have good things going on at the moment and would be stupid to leave that. I would've been surprised if either one was interested in pissing off fans who currently adore them to come talk to us and sound us out, see what FSG are all about.
