Aye. Surely a man in Ayre's lofty position wouldn't or at least shouldn't be blabbing *any* sensitive info to journalists.Originally posted by Lecter View PostIt might have been on that particular snippet of info
I dont think he was his source previouslyThanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I know he did all of the above, but again, if one person even dares mentions the stuff at Inter or his last season with us, they instantly a WUM who has been reading fed Sky agenda bollocks.
I've no beef with the man. It's this bizarre zombie-like 'It must be Rafa, no one else but him' that I have the beef with. I can't enjoy a discussion about him without someone just chipping in with 'I wish he was here.' Even Kenny Dalglish's reign was dogged with it. I mean, Kenny Dalglish! If he got those kind of comments, then what hope does any future manager stand?
I commented a while ago that he has the same effect on fans as Mourinho does at Chelsea. The next manager doesn't stand a chance IMO.
We are becoming the new Chelsea, but it's because of the above. We'll get Martinez or Villas Boas and when we're 7th in the table in October, the comments will be back 'We should've had Rafa'.
I wish he'd just get a job at a different club and then come back later on if there is a vacancy. Otherwise, it's just going to hang over every manager onwards because they aren't Rafa.
I wouldn't call some of the stuff I read idolising. I'd call it a cult following. I've said I've witnessed it from personal experience and that's why I react strongly with it. Nothing personal with anyone or with Rafa.
This is so spot on

And yet we are targetting people like Brendan Rodgers & Roberto MartinezOriginally posted by Mostar View PostThat is small club mentality type of statement...

Steve Nicol really shouldn't be allowed to speak in public.

Fantastic player but with judgement like that no wonder he couldn't hack it in the ultra-competitive world of North American soccer management.Originally posted by souliv View PostSteve Nicol's view on who should be our next manager

We need a source to confirm Barrett's source.Originally posted by souliv View PostFull quote

I see a lot of people asking why Rafa hasn't been appraoched. How do you all know for certain he hasn't?
Because Tony Barrett, whos source is Ayre, said he hasnt.
Seriously, if we arent going to take the word of reliable people then whats the point of even discussing it.
My question, does anyone know if this is true that Barrett's source is Ayre.

Roberto Martínez to be invited for talks with Liverpool’s owner
Tony Barrett
Published 1 minute ago
Fenway Sports Group is ready to invite Roberto Martínez to Boston for talks this week as the Liverpool owner continues its attempts to find a replacement for Kenny Dalglish.
Dave Whelan, the Wigan Athletic chairman, gave Martínez permission to speak to Liverpool last week and FSG is now ready to begin interviewing candidates for the vacant managerial position.
Although Martínez is on holiday in the Caribbean, he is understood to be prepared to travel to Boston to meet senior figures from FSG, having emerged as one of the leading candidates to succeed Dalglish, who was sacked by Liverpool last week after only 16 months in charge.
André Villas-Boas is also set to be interviewed, with the former Chelsea manager keen to put forward his credentials for the job despite having insisted that he will need to be convinced that “the project”, as he referred to it, is right for him.
Martínez and Villas-Boas appear to be the front-runners for the position, particularly after Frank de Boer and Didier Deschamps joined Jürgen Klopp and Brendan Rodgers by ruling themselves out of the running.
De Boer was approached by Liverpool, but refused even to discuss the possibility of taking over at Anfield out of loyalty to Ajax, whom he has guided to the league title in the Netherlands for the past two seasons. Deschamps has not been contacted by Liverpool, but has pre-empted any approach by reiterating his commitment to Marseilles despite a disappointing campaign.
“I am honoured by the request [from Liverpool] but I have only just started with Ajax,” De Boer said. “That’s why I will stay loyal to Ajax in the coming years.”
Deschamps said: “It is expected that I will be with Marseilles next season. When it goes badly, there is a need to recharge. I will leave on vacation but it is expected that I be there [Marseilles] for July 2.”
De Boer’s rejection is embarrassing to Liverpool, but officials maintain that such setbacks are a natural part of a process to find the best available manager.
