I wouldn't say it was 'embarrassing'. De Boer is obviously eager to learn his trade and doesn't want to rush his managerial career, if anything, his loyalty is rather noble.

If Martinez had said 'no', *that* would have been embarrassing.

I think he might have said yes if it wasn't so public.

But I could be wrong and maybe he thinks it's too soon for him too.

Either way, I'm not too concerned by managers saying no, it's when people that are out of a job turn us down when I'll be worried!

I must have missed what Babel said.

De Boer has made a promise to Ajax, he obviously feels he owes them time, so fair play to him; they took a risk (ish) appointing him and now he's repaying their faith.

I agree with your point about Ajax, it seems he could have a bright future.
