Swansea do a lot of passing it around without really going anywhere.
In Ipswich's first season back in the Prem, they knocked it around with real style under George Burley before being horribly exposed in their 2nd season.
Rodgers just strikes me as far too big a gamble. We shouldn't be gambling, we should be going for the safest ****ing bet we can find.
A lot of teams try to do that. It's not as easy as all that. And to do it with technically limited players - it's pretty incredible. And they clearly have the ability to step it when they want to, as their results show
He hasn't even got a budget for a Heskey/Zamora type player. So that route wasn't available to him either this season. Maybe he'll consider it for next.
Anyway, moot point as I would also be upset if he became our manager.
He's got Danny Graham. He's as big a big lump as you can get
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.
So if true, one of the candidates for DOF says in a round about way he want's the job of the manager, is there already a possible conflict of interest here?
Van Gaal working with a manager he possibly wants to replace ?
We cannot afford to have any in fighting or personal agendas this time around.
I don't see the problem then, if LVG is brought in to mentor a young up and coming manager like Rogers. For the first time in a long time, we look to have a 'footballing philosophy' and are bringing people in to fit that rather than the other way round. I'm pretty excited about the future.
I think this is way too simplistic
Just because LVG has a decent reputation doesnt mean he can elevate Martinez & Rodgers to a standard that is good enough to manage LFC
This is before you even consider LVG is renowned for butting heads with just about everybody under the sun
He makes Rafa look like Kofi Anan
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
Wigan chairman Dave Whelan reveals a deadline will be given to manager Roberto Martinez to finalise his future. "Roberto will be in Barbados until next Tuesday and I will then set a seven-day deadline by which time I will expect a decision," Whelan says.
All that bloke is doing is trying to keep his name in the press. Im sure FSG don't give a hoot about a deadline imposed by Wigan.
or he could be trying to bring this to a swift conclusion so they themselves can plan for next season. last thing wigan need is for this to be taking another 3 or 4 weeks.
Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde
whealan is just an attention seeking media whore....but it is slightly telling that he doesnt really know whats going on either...you would think if martinez was nailed on,if some rumours are to be believed than he would know about it.

'Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple.'
It would certainly be risky taking a punt on Lambert and martinez but the biggest gamble would be villas boas in my opinion. He has only one full season of managerial experience in football. I still can't see why so many people think he's qualified for this job. At least most of the other candidates have proved themselves as being able to build sides over a few years even though not necessarily at the highest level
