I think FSG are doing the right thing and going about the manager recruitment process the right way, they need to get it right and as much as I want someone in charge ASAP it's best to go through the process properly

Can anyone here see man city, utd, chelsea, arsenal, spurs
Appoint martinez as their manager if they were looking for one.
If he gets the job and ****s it up , my life is going to be hell. The amount of people who are going to enjoy it and let me know what a joke we are.
Instead of being laughed at, I want the days when they feared us .

Agree if they are genuinely considering other candidates, otherwise the process is just a load of bollocks.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostI think FSG are doing the right thing and going about the manager recruitment process the right way, they need to get it right and as much as I want someone in charge ASAP it's best to go through the process properly
Personnally, I think Martinez is the most keen but not the preferred choice. I think Klopp and Rogers are above and that whelan pushing for his man using the media to put FSG under pressure.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

I agree with this statement. At first i was against RM being our new manager but now after reading these forums and RAWK, all day everyday, i will support whoever takes the hot seat 100%. There is risk associated with any appointment...our new manager will either be a revelation or a flop (hopefully not). I dont mind who is appointed as long as we 1) play good fluent attacking football and aim to steamroller every team we face and 2) get 3 points on the table more often than not. The only concern i have is that this summer we need to get the right players in to strengthen our squad. And i hope the new structure FSG envision works out to be stable and successful...heres to happy times ahead

If it wasn't for Whelan we wouldn't really know what was going on as from our side it's all being done behind closed doors.
Martinez is appearing the favourite because he's the only one who we know is involved in the process because Whelan has been running his gob off. Whether he really is the front runner we don't really know. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Some of us have been criticising the process right from the beginning and were told to stop being drama queensOriginally posted by cream View PostAgree if they are genuinely considering other candidates, otherwise the process is just a load of bollocks.

Interesting to see people starting to come around
What I dont get is this - FSG are clearly interested in Rodgers & Klopp who have clearly told them to do one
Why are we pinning our hopes on them changing their minds?? It sounds ****ing desperate and it also doesnt say much for Martinez if they are hoping for that event
I also cant understand why they have dismissed certain candidates and focussed on this list (Klopp is the only one I'd touch) and there are plenty of other managers more qualified than Martinez & Rodgers
Still as one of my mates said the job description isnt that great is it
"Hey, come join our club where we sacked a club legend after 18 months where he reached two finals and won a cup. You won't get to pick your own signings, your bosses know nothing about football, you'll have to work with a coach that you've likely never met before, we're looking to appoint a notoriously difficult DoF, you'll have very little in the way of funds, and you'll be undermined repeatedly by the current club captain and vice captain. You'll have ludicrous expectations placed on you by deranged and militant fans, the media will try and undermine you and probably make xenophobic jokes, you'll pay a lot more tax on your salary than you currently do, the weather is ****, and if you don't finish in the top four, we'll sack you. Interested?"Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

EDIT: That bit is lighthearted.
Really, your post is full of assumptions and inferences - chances are some of your guesses and interpretations will end up seeming to have been broadly correct and others plain wrong. And we'll never come to learn which most of them were.
I really don't think the appointment of the manager is the most important challenge facing the club and I'd be happy with some progress on the pitch in the next year or two.Last edited by Neil Young; 26-05-12, 10:40 AM..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Surely progress on the pitch is dependent on the next manager we appoint?Originally posted by Neil Young View PostI really don't think the appointment of the manager is the most important challenge facing the club and I'd be happy with some progress on the pitch in the next year or two.
What do you think is the most important challenge facing the club?
I don't think FSG will ever have a better opportunbity to rip the club back to the foundations and build it up in their design and such is our current situation, I don't think they can afford to get the managerial appointment wrong.
