Didn't Rodgers cut his teeth at Chelsea....could the fact that Clarke is still here be relevant to him being favourite now for the job? Would be gutted if he got the job, really would prefer Martinez to him.

I can't imagine he hasn't been approached for other jobs, I think he has said as much but there wasn't anything that matched what he was looking for.Originally posted by dom9 View PostYou really think so?
Why has he been out of work for 18 months? His name is pretty much mud in the football community since Inter it seems.
Chelsea were supposedly in there too.
I do find it mystifying that the last manager to finish ahead of the Spanish Old Firm, a proven Champions League tactician and team builder is being overlooked. (By us as well as other teams)
Does anybody really believe that the managers we are being linked with are an upgrade on Dalglish, let alone more qualified than Rafa Benitez?

Having passed a couple of piano exams in the last couple of years I agree whole heartedly with her. The unseen section is a right pain in the arseOriginally posted by Pablo1981 View PostStill good news about the piano exam!A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

He's a no season wonder. They've been barely keeping their heads above water.Originally posted by Shaggy View Post
He's not a one season wonder in the Prem for a start.
At least Rogers got Swansea playing some cracking football from the get go.
Of the gambles i think Rogers is my preferred (i like Lambert too for some reason)."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Nicey

Well, I'm not sure he's top of the list of all the other clubs. PSG, Chelsea, for example.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostI can't imagine he hasn't been approached for other jobs, I think he has said as much but there wasn't anything that matched what he was looking for.

I would certainly prefer Rafa to the others, but it's not gonna happen.Oh I don't know.

Don't think it was either of those reasons tbh.Originally posted by Macedonian_Red View PostWell, since those two things are quite different, please tell me if Comolli was sacked because he has identified the wrong targets, or because he has paid too much for them?

Ok, but you can't account for everybody can you? I wasn't advocating revolt, I was simply stating that a fan base does react if they are disgruntled.Originally posted by MrNice View PostThe only Fan revolt there has been to my knowledge was over Uncle Woy, because .. he replaced Rafa who most people did not want to go, and was hired by a couple of utter cunts ..... on top of being there man ... he started to say all of the wrong **** ...
Liverpool Fans back there manager. end of story ... and if you dont go **** off to City or Chelsea

Ok, I'll rephrase. If he had no prior involvement with Liverpool, I can't imagine FSG would be ignoring his availability.Originally posted by dom9 View PostWell, I'm not sure he's top of the list of all the other clubs. PSG, Chelsea, for example.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I know we still have players here signed by Rafa, but that is not really relevant IMO. At most clubs players are there for longer than a manager and independent of just one.Originally posted by Macedonian_Red View PostYou know how many of these players were signed, promoted or at least scouted by Rafa?
We already have a pretty solid first team squad, and a very solid Reserves/Academy setup ... Most of our players, both senior and junior, were signed, promoted or at least scouted by Rafa and his staff ... People running the Reserves/Academy were hired by Rafa ...
Why should we start from the clean? The idea is pretty ridiculous ... It seems to me like that urge that every woman gets every spring, to move and re-arrange the furniture in the house, with no apparent reason ...
I know a lot of fans want Rafa back, but if the owners see a different future, and want's to start over and likely want's to play a different type of football than what Rafa offers - then why interview him just to satisfy an external demand? That is really my main point, I havn't seen a good argument as to why they just have to interview him if they see things differently right now.
And your post doesn't really answer what traditions FSG are violating by choosing another manager than one sacked just 2 years ago as you said? What are they doing so wrong exactly other than keeping things behind closed doors?
In my opinion starting a new is a very good idea considering what the club have been throuh the last 3-4 years.Last edited by Darkon; 29-05-12, 12:33 PM.

I think the way it works is thus;Originally posted by Macedonian_Red View PostSo, you are saying that he is not buying or selling the players, but he does the negotiating ... Interesting ... By the way, according to Ayre, a direct replacement for Comolli as a Director of Football at LFC won't be hired ...
Manager: Identifies the role that requires filling.
Scouts: Find the best players possible for the role described by the manager
DOF: Decides on the best suited for the club, possibly without the managers input (don't forget, the manager has already identified the type of player he needs)
DOC: Goes out and attempts to negotiate a deal for the players picked.
This way, the manager can focus solely on the team and what it needs, can identify areas that need filling and then leave the rest of the legwork to other people, leaving the Manager free to manage the team.
Does that make sense?

Keeping Wigan in the premiership year after year, with the players they have and the players they sell, is a wonder in itself tho, surely?Originally posted by Harv View PostHe's a no season wonder. They've been barely keeping their heads above water.
