I'm inclined to think it was only these two all along. Style of play, young and learning under a seasoned DOF. If this is the case then I hope it's BR out of the two because being a South Wales boy I have seen what his relationship with the Jacks is like and he would "fit" Liverpool in the way he respects his club and fans and also in his football philosophy. (I want Rafa though)

Yep, after an extensive search for a new manager, FSG have whittled it down to the 2 men that the press initially said it was between after interviewing only Martinez and Rogers (not even sure if Rogers has spoken to them). It seems that they've only spoken to Roberto.... What the fecks going on? I don't think anyone actually knows, though we only have photographic evidence of Martinez.

Was anyone else really considered or are they insistent on getting an unproven cheap and risky manager in? Seems like they're taking massive risks with this club, but I suppose they have more to lose than us. I'm just concerned as to where they see our future? Have they thrown the towel in now they've seen what money it takes to be a success in football and now have a new plan based on premiership survival and the odd cup run, hence small time managers who won't demand a lot.

Three more wanks to the big climax.

                I want either a Txiki/Van Gaal combo or a Van Gaal/Rodgers combo.

Probably the latter. I'd be quite happy with that.

Both martinez and rodgers would be hig gambles imo but I think both would be given a lot of patience from fans because of their relative youth.

If anything it shows that fsg are risk takers and they are willing to be bold in their choices because someone like rafa or capello would be considered a safeish choice. But martinez and rodgers fall into the high risk category.

Whoever comes in should be aiming for no less than 65 points. I think the squad is possibly good enough for 70 points but no less than 65. We will see.

el matador, you are Neil Atkinson and I claim my £5.

Either way, it's going to eat into our budget.

Pay-offs for Comolli, Kenny etc. Compensation for either Martinez or Rodgers and new DOF on the payroll.

I hope it's Rodgers although all the signs point to Martinez. Interesting that when you read their profiles, Rodgers is the more continental coach whereas Martinez is the British coach.

If I had a straight choice RM or BR I'd take Rodgers. If we take it as read that he'll bring a similar style of play to our club as the one he implemented at Swansea on the playing staff who, in the opinion of our members will be
the winners and who will be the losers. Who's in and who's out??
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

I think Rodgers would absolutely love Lucas, Agger and Henderson

I hate this absolutely ridiculous argument, makes no sense at all.

Consider that and how much cheaper it would have been to keep all those on board not to mention how it would keep the majority of fans quiet. FGS clearly didn't think it was working out and have taken a massive gambling on molding the club how they see fit and IMO have the best intentions of the club (for selfish reasons probably) at heart.

Time will tell if they are correct, but this route definitely isn't the cheap or easy approach that so many are suggesting.
