Why?Originally posted by SB View PostI just read some journo suggesting that signing Sigurdson could mean the end for Shelvey ?The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Sigurdsson was to be a record signing for Swansea City before Rodgers left, and there was plenty of reason for him to be. From what I’ve seen of him, he certainly has potential to exploit. His spot kicks are excellent, his attacking ability and habit to produce as well as sustain activity in the offensive third are aspects that have fallen shy at Liverpool. If he were to form a strong bond with Steven Gerrard, it would certainly only generate more offensive prowess and perhaps allow Steven to play wider and utilize his delivery more.
While no signing comes without examination of the talent at hand, it is a transfer which would have many eyes solely on Jonjo Shelvey. In all honesty, Shelvey’s skill often causes me to forget that he is merely 20-years old. The loan spell was a great influence on the lad. In my eyes, his confidence has increased, and his execution has begun to match the excellent vision he contains.
Again, he is only 20-years old. He is I feel exhibiting progress and undoubtedly developing – as his remarkably composed screamer in the Chelsea game would suggest. The focus for me thus becomes the rate at which he is doing so, and if LFC can afford to wait. I do not want to get rid of him, but I also believe signing Sigurdsson would be of value. He is also young at only 22 years of age, and could really find his form at the club under a manager with whom he is familiar backed by standards that only exert the best if indeed the player is a match.
With that, I don’t feel it would be regressive to loan Shelvey out once more. I know his dedication and heart is with Liverpool, as he has stated his admiration for Gerrard, but one must be objective in order to succeed. Also, so long as it is a loan and not a transfer, I am sure he realizes it would not only be in his best interest but in the club’s that he holds in his heart as well.
I would also understand if Shelvey was kept rather than loaned. He has earned the stay and should only improve. If we sign Sigurdsson, I would like to believe that the competition would breed greatness as standards are constantly raised to earn a spot on the starting line up. The best athletes are those with self-motivation and a sincere desire to work to their full ability with the hopes of success, a trait I believe to see with delight in Shelvey.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Screw it. Last season's a distant enough memory that Im going to start being optimistic again.
I think the appointment of Di Matteo and Moyes (if he does go to Spurs) could be good for us. I cant see either Chelsea or Spurs being up to much with them in charge. Di Matteo got lucky and Moyes is far too defensive a manager for his team to get a lot of points over the course of a season. Especially if they lose Modric. If we can get any sort of form together, we might have a much better shot at a top four place than I would have thought a month ago.

Spurs will be in rebuilding mode just like we will so it depends who jumps ship now that Arry's gone. Chelsea will strengthen so I don't expect them to be any worse than they were this season tbh. The Arse could be the team to suffer if RVP jumps ship.Originally posted by Galb View PostScrew it. Last season's a distant enough memory that Im going to start being optimistic again.

I don't have overly high expectations for us just yet but lets see who we buy before I make any predictions.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

He has played central for Uruguay and Ajax a lot of times and I have seen Cavani play wide for Uruguay.Originally posted by Reece View PostThat's where he plays for Uruguay isn't it (with Cavani central). Did he not also play there (or on the left) for Ajax too?
If we can get in a top class striker (or Carroll becomes such) then yes I think the best place for Suarez on left or right of a front three.

Suarez is the more creative & Sturridge more an opportunist so hence my suggestion. Suarez can play anywhere across the front so no biggie for me.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostWhat is with the obsession with playing our top scorer wide?Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
