Exeter to Liverpool on the morning of the match!

    It's a wonder it wasn't 18-1.

      Enrique Twitter interview (Twitterview?)

      http://www.lfctour.com/news/enrique-...your-questions

Who's impressed you the most out of the Academy players on tour?

Ryan McLaughlin is playing on the right-wing. His intensity and passion to play - he can be a good player.
He is going to be quality. He's a right back but is very good going forwards. He looks like Vegard Heggem

So he'll be playing the Dani Alves role in our new Barca system

He attacks like him and he is a pretty ferocius tackler. He is defintely going to overtake Flanagan and I think he will overtake Kelly too very soon. He has only been at Liverpool for a year and IMO he is a big a talent as the likes of Suso, Sterling etc. Brad Smith is very good too although he has a bit of a task overtaking Jack Robinson which I think he will as he is much bigger than him and a lot more skillful.

saj, Flanno looked as good if not better than Ryan in the Academy both offensively and defensively. Even in the Reserves. His problems came making the step up and suddenly all momentum was lost.

I thought they were both quite similar.

Between the two of them and Kelly, surely one of them will prove an able replacement for Johnson.

I would send Flanagan out on loan this year though, see how he gets on.

Flannagan defensively he looked very, very good. He has balls of steel when it comes to tackling. But in terms of attacking, he was never great for the reserves. It's saying something if Ryan after spending barely one year as an academy player (he did appear for the reserves and in the Next Gen series) he has been taken on this tour of America with the first team. Have you seen Ryan Mcloughlin play?

Mcloughlin is awesome going forwards. I've not seen a better youth/reserve team fullback since Insua, maybe even better to be honest

Interesting... though that's Northern Irish schoolboy football, not necessarily the greatest barometer of future ability to play in the Premiership

Still, you can tell he's got pace, likes to get forward and does a nifty line in cutting across defenders in their box to win penalties.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                        Mine angry and defrauded young?

I wondered why he didn't go on the tour to America

                                http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/footb...boss-1-4765404

LIVERPOOL winger Toni Silva is expected to sign for Barnsley today on a free transfer subject to a successful medical.

The highly-rated teenager is due for a medical at Oakwell with a two-year contract having been agreed between the player and Championship club.

And Reds boss Keith Hill is exciting about developing Silva, who turns 19 in September, into an even better player.

“He’s a very talented player, but he’s still raw,” said Hill, speaking exclusively to The Star.

“We’ve watched him a few times and we’ve really been impressed with we’ve seen.

“He went on loan to Northampton last season, which was a good experience for him.

“I spoke to (Northampton manager) Aidie Boothroyd about him and he agrees that he’s an exciting prospect.”

Hill has worked shrewdly over the summer to strengthen his squad with the free signings of Jacob Mellis, Ben Alnwick, Kelvin Etuhu and Mido.

And Silva will become Hill’s fifth new signing as he continues to work within a tight budget at Oakwell.

“We’re in a different league now in terms of recruiting,” added Hill. “We have to try and get one step ahead of the game and try and develop players.

“It takes time, but it’s exciting to see what can happen. We’ve proved we can develop players like Jacob Butterfield and Ricardo - and we’ll keep doing that.”

Silva played for Benfica as a youth player before being snapped up by Liverpool in 2009, but he struggled to break into the first team with so many big name players ahead of him and change of management at Anfield.

In February last year he joined the Cobblers on loan and played 15 times for the club in a beneficial loan spell which was extended until the end of the season.

Silva also represented Portgual at Under-17 and Under-18 levels and has ambitions to one day break into the national team, although he is still learning his trade.

“Toni is left-footed and we’ve been looking for a left-footed winger for a while,” said Hill.

“But he can also play wide on the right and as No 10, so he’s the type of player we’re looking for.

“There’s no magic formula about buying players unless you have money, but we’re working within a tight budget and doing the best business we can. This is a really good signing for the club but there needs to be some patience because he’s still a young lad.”
