Was that right? Seems total madness to me.

Borini was mainly a goal poacher at Swansea, a typical, cliché fox in the box.
Five of his six goals were scored with his right foot.
Five of six came inside the penalty area – the lone exception a direct free kick against Norwich.
Three were scored from rebounds, either inside the six-yard box or just outside.
His league goals for Roma were similar, although Borini usually started from wider positions: all nine from inside the box, seven of nine with his right foot, with the majority less than ten yards from goal, many from rebounds.
A handful came from through balls or chips over the top where he hangs off the shoulder of the last defender and beats the offside trap.
Interestingly, none of his goals for either Swansea or Roma were headers

It should be obvious, but people don't seem to be taking it into account when condeming us as being ****, at 11 vs 11 we weren't great, but we weren't **** either. People are just going over the top.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostWell yeah that's obvious, but it still doesn't mask the fact that the main threat to West Brom's goal was Suarez and his dribbling ability rather than us taking the game to West Brom as a team. Now I can appreciate that it's early days and the team interplay at this point can lack cohesion, but I find it laughable really when Rodgers comes out and says stuff like "the players ran themselves to a standstill" when it clearly (to my mind) is not the case; the work ethic just wasn't there.
If we'd played the whole game with 11 men and seen that performance then we would have had genuine cause for concern, but it's diffiuclt to judge a performance when you are playing a man down. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

May need to check the Roma stats but from the same site..Originally posted by rcasemore View Posthow many games in each of those positions?
Using the stats available on Fabio Borini we’ve found that Fabio Borini scored the majority of his goals when he was started as a left-wing forward (LWF).
He scored five of his nine goals when started as a LWF and averaged a goal every 1.4 games in this position (5 goals in 7 starts) whilst managing a goal every 3.5 games when started as a right-wing forward (RWF) and a goal every 3 games when playing the centre forward (CF) position
I suppose it depends on who he has playing around him and the setup..
It could be non comparable for LFC.

How long is the ban is it just 1 game? (I assume it's not been deemed violent conduct).Originally posted by Gibbo View PostApparently Rodgers has said we are appealing the Agger red card
I can't see any chance of it being overturned. It was a soft decision but having given a foul the ref has to give a red card, that's a stupid rule that should be looked at IMO.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The ref was determined to give them another goal. The first penalty was correct and unfortunately he was right to send Agger off. **** penalty and we were still in the game at one nil down. The referee wasn't satisfied with that. At one nil down and with ten men there is still a good chance of at least getting a draw. At two nil down it's far more likely that they will score a third. Chasing two goals with ten men is a much more difficult scenario than chasing a single goal and hoping to catch the opposition on the break. The ref killed the game for us with the Skrtel penalty which was never a penalty in a trillion years.

I said yesterday that it was more of a mental issue yesterday, and seeing it again, it looks more obvious than ever.
Players didn't do what they did in pre-season. No pressing, no movement, they were just static and sloppy. The pressure got to them big time once again. That didn't look like the glimpses of Rodgers' philosophy we saw during pre-season. That looked like a Dalglish team **** scared of dropping points and when they conceded, the deck of cards collapsed in a heap.

A couple of things I noticed in terms of the way the team set up was that we committed alot of men forward and even the supposed deep lying midfielders were pushing really high up the pitch which left us very open to counter attack, this is where the first penalty and Aggers sending off came from, I think we need one of the centre midfielders (probably Lucas) to hold back a little more, to offer more protection.
The second point was I couldn't believe how openly we played when we went down to 10 men, I'm not sure if that was Rodgers plan or if his ideas didn't get through to the players or what but I think we needed to be more solid and more aware of the counter attack, because I thought we were very naive in this regard. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Laughable really. Kelly has actually regressed since breaking through so impressively.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostTo think there are - or at least were - *loads* of Reds on this forum who think Kelly is better than Johnson. To be fair to Kelly he has got hardly any game time so that is bound is have a massive impact on his game. Like every footballer he needs regular football, and unfortunately at moment Johnson is our first choice RB, so it is bad luck for Kelly.Originally posted by Tee View PostLaughable really.
