I just want to retract the optimism I reserved for Downing before the match today. He is still a ****ing bottle job crock of ****e and needs to be binned.

We need a few fearless youngsters in the team. I would have loved to see Raheem Sterling out there today. There are to many players who just cannot carry the burden of expectation that shirt has.

Looking at peoples reactions, Brenda doesn't stand a chance. He has had no where near enough time with the players to have any real effect yet. It's either a long term vision which means discounting early results or more chop and change in a few months time. One thing I will throw in, does the managers handling of Carroll and agger effect team moral in anyway?

I am worried about the psychological effect such a defeat will have on the mentally weak in our side (of which there appear to be a few).

No, not at all, These are the players we blame every time we lose, aren't they?

Cole hasn't play a game in the PL for over a season and came on with us behind after having a man sent off and Carroll was brought on the replace an injured Cole.

I hate to point out the obvious but the damage was done long before either player stepped on the pitch.

Exactly what we didn't want to happen, lose the game, get outplayed, play dire, get a key player sent off failed to score goals.

I think that the wide forward areas are seriously lacking in quality, I was disappointed with both Downing and Borini, unless they seriously step up their game this is going to be a huge problem!

I think that Rodgers showed his niavity today, once we went down to 10 men we played far too openly and you are always going to get stuffed if you play like that while a man down.

Well said Exiled, although I'll disagree with you on being disappointed by Downing..........he performed at or near expectations.

When it was 11 vs. 11 it looked an even game, which is not saying a lot. If Gerrard is going to amble about like that in every game then we can say bye bye to a respectable league position unless Rodgers does something about it.

I think his stats at Ajax and Uruguay prove that he can finish however he is yet to find that consistency for us. No matter what league you play in you still have to put the ball in between the posts. I personally think he needs to calm down a little and stop thinking that he is the only one who can score (although it would help if some of his team mates would make the effort to get into the oppositions area).
