Gera's goal reminded me of Assou-Ekotto's wonder goal against us, 1/50 they go sailing to top corner. Gerrard gave the ball too much away, but he wasn't the cullprit in all of them. The pass that turned to red card and peno was placed perfectly into an empty space, while Downing stood flat footed behind a wba player watching, and another red shirt did the same on the other side. I'm afraid that a lot of patience is going to be needed in the next weeks from the manager, the players and defo from the fans.

It's a bit **** though this, we have to put up with all the stuff about the season openers this week now, with our game being among the most talked about, for all the wrong reasons.

Really did'nt see this coming at all, not at all, next game can't come quick enough.

I just get fed up with the same old names being rolled out and certain players being untouchable.

There was a whole team of ****e out there today and you have to look at Agger (for his stupidity) and Suarez (for his wastefulness, yes he did get himself into the right position) as being the bigger culprits.

But it was Gerrard who gave the ball away to start with and then just stopped running.

its 1 game so lets not jump to conclusions but on that performance it seems he doesn't want to be playing for the 'team'

I thought him and downing were both horrific today, Borini was sloppy but showed hunger.

Allen and Lucas will be boss that is for sure..

rodgers should have played kelly left back and left johnson at right back. At least that way we would have one functioning attacking fullback. The way it was, neither contributed anything of any note.

I agree with shaggy, if we sign a striker why play him left hand side, and play suarez who misses chances for fun up front where he continues to miss chance after chance.

As for Gerrard, I think he's starting to get to the point when he's becoming a liability. It was a slow process with Carra, same thing for Stevie I'm afraid. Shelvey should try and up the ante to try and take more responsibility.

I think his stats at Ajax and Uruguay prove that he can finish however he is yet to find that consistency for us. No matter what league you play in you still have to put the ball in between the posts. I personally think he needs to calm down a little and stop thinking that he is the only one who can score (although it would help if some of his team mates would make the effort to get into the oppositions area).

He has found a consistency with us though, consistently missing chances you expect Sunday league players to put away half the time.

I'm not saying he's not class because he obviously is but he needs a goalscorer with him otherwise we won't get close to the top 4 any time soon.

Gerrard needs a word with himself after that, I thought his attitude to the game was pretty shocking.

It will take time, but we can't be made to look like ****ing cannon fodder by the likes of West Brom.. We should have tightened up when the game was out of reach and tried to save face because the 3-0 and even more so the onslaught will have done damage for most players confidence I fear.

I'm not jumping to any conclusion and what I said was not a suggestion that he doesn't want to be playing for the team, it was quite simply a statement saying that what Agger did was stupid.

I thought Johnson provided most of the small ammount of balls into the box we had all game ... he has played perfectly well at LB before and was perfectly fine tonight ... we got caught on the ball too much ... by experienced players like our Captain (2nd goal) and we seemed to be very exposed at the back ... which has been an issue all pre season
