We collectively played below our expectations but I have to say it that Stevie looks so not ready and almost as it was the end of the season and not the beginning.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostArsenal were **** last season too. Then they stormed up the league.
Man Utd were **** last season. They they too stormed up the league.
The lesson here is that Man Utd and Arsenal can afford to be ****. We can't.
Seriously it's still early days and we have to be patient as we're embedding new players and a new style of play.
Gerrard should give his money to charity for such a **** game.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Possibly something to do with being away with England over the summer and only last season coming back from a long term lay off. I think a number of our players are going to suffer at some point this year through not having much time off this summer.Originally posted by Mostar View PostWe collectively played below our expectations but I have to say it that Stevie looks so not ready and almost as it was the end of the season and not the beginning. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He never was good going forward but I agree.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostKelly is stagnating IMO, and it's a fair comment that progression won't be easy without regular football. But he just does not fit into what Rodgers wants to do, his use of the ball is pretty poor and he's not great going forward. I don't think a lumbering 6ft+ full back is ideal either. I've been and am a fan of his but we need to decide what to do with him before his stagnation turns to regression.
Rodgers system depends heavily on fullbacks providing width but he is not a type of RB that can really do that.
He cannot cut inside and his ball delivery is always low and poor.
That said, I never thought RB was his future but CB but that will be difficult as he would be on the bottom of the packing order.

I suppose it depends on who he has playing around him and the setup..
It could be non comparable for LFC.
Suarez can play in the middle or on the left but Borini cannot play on left in our lineup as he is so ineffective.
He is so far out the box when he touches the ball and he doesn't have dribbling skills to make the forward run.
In fact I thought yesterday that he did much better on the right in those few times he was on that side of the pitch.
Personally I think Luis and Borini should exchange their positions as we may get much more from Borini that way.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

a tad harshOriginally posted by vonk View PostFreak result. To be fair we were good first half but poor finishing and a goal that you can't defend against had us one down. Thought we'd get back into it to be honest, but once we went a man down it was over.
Cole needs to be binned.
Kelly is not good enough. I think the central defenders spend their time covering for him.
Skrtel had a mare, poorest game in a while.
Gerrard was a disgrace - swanning about the pitch not getting involved. He might be done.
Lucas was obviously not fully fit.
Downing - started well, finished ****. Too inconsistent.
Borini seemed overawed.
Suarez was brilliant, apart from the fact that he missed three sitters.
Fear for us next week in defence. Carra against City's fast moving attack. Ouch. It's going to be a long season.'The tide is very much in our court now.'
