DId anyone else think Borini put in such a good shift for us today? Thought he was immense. The effort. Didn't go unnoticed by me and he was unlucky not to get a goal or two. He looks a player.

Won't bother talking about Allen and Sterling because I think everything that has needed to be said has been already. We do have a bright future under Rodgers I feel.

Totally forgot to mention Coates, thought he dealt extremely well with the weight of expectation.

Love his movement, thought some of his link up play was good aswell, some decent little lay offs and would have had an assist if Suarez had buried the chance. Only turned 21 a few months ago aswell, his professional career has barely got going.

I thought Borini did exactly what Rodgers expects from him. Hard work defensively on the flank and getting in good positions to score in the box. He's never going to be that player who takes players on or creates quality chances from out wide, but if he does manage to put in those chances he can fill a very similar role to what's Kuyt done for us at his best.

I think the error is the ball coming in, in the first place.

As soon as that ball is coming into the box, you need to clear your lines; if Reina had reached the ball first, then the danger is dealt with. Kelly still needs to be thinking that *if* Reina doesn't reach that, that ball is mine and he switched off.

So let's get this clear:

The ball shouldn't have come in the first place.

Reina should have got it, even though the reason he didn't is that the ball flicked off the top of Skrtel's head just in front of him.

Kelly should have anticipated that Reina might miss the ball, even though the only reason he didn't get to it was, that just before it reached him, the ball flicked off the top of Skrtel's head. So the ball was diverted from its trajectory a matter of maybe three metres from Kelly, and one metre from Reina but Kelly should have been ready to clear the ball with his left foot even though the path of the ball changed not far in front of him.

I thought Borini's movement and workrate was exceptional.

It's unfortunate he got *too* much on the first-half effort - he scuffs it and it's in. He filled in at right midfield for large spells of the game and pressed well. He relies very much on service and will have games when he'll be making up numbers, but I do think he'll be one of those players that does little for 89 minutes and grabs one in the 90th.

If Toure had sliced the ball wide, it would still have been an error. If Reina had reached the ball, only Kelly would know that he let his concentration slip.

I realise it would still have been an error. What I said though was that none of us would have noticed it. Maybe the club's analysis team would have picked up on it, but we wouldn't.

So how many other mistakes are there every game that aren't obvious/costly enough for us to notice them?

Minor thigh injury in warm up. Tried to start game to see how it went but came off early on. Sat in stand watching game so can't have been that bad.

I agree with those saying Gerrard NEVER had a poor game. He was decent and got stuck in with some meaty challenges. It's just others played better today.

I hope the team learn that when we are 2-1 up with ten minutes to go, then it is ok for a CB to launch the ball into the crowd. Playing football under such circumstances is nuts. It's when we launch it when it's nil nil that it is annoying.

I really enjoyed the game today and am gutted that we lost, but really encouraged with what how we played.

i hope they learn to do what the gaffer wants them to do: create good passing angles and make themselves available for the pass. so we can keep possession with 10 mins to gp and not let them have the ball and attack us.
