Rodgers is spot on with what he said about Skrtel. Yes he made the mistake but the midfield should have give him an option.

Can't agree with that mate. He showed some real touches of class which almost did some damage, but his general play was not as efficient or influential as theirs. Certainly not Allen's anyway!Originally posted by Gibbo View PostI dont think Gerrard was poor somehow.
He put in a similar performance to Allen and Shelvey.
Think we jus expect more because of who he is.Like blood on iron

Sure, but a CB underhitting a backpass is a major **** up. Not saying he should have 'row z'd it, just that it was almost amateurish in its ****ness. Anyway, no point crying over split milk.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostHaha! Excellent, exactly the kind of thing I expected him to say.
Anyone suggesting Skrtel should be bollocked has missed the point - we need to encourage the players to always be available for a short pass and always look for a short pass. Rom wasn't built in a day and mistakes will occur. Whether he should have hacked the ball away or not, rebuking him for looking for the short pass first would be counterproductive to efforts transitioning toward this philosophy.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Perhaps we need to use him less / rotate / drop or whatever you want to call it. Might be better as an impact player now. I've faith in Rodgers to make the call though if he thinks it's the right thing to do.
I was thinking earlier too, we must have one of the youngest teams in the PL. Looks good for the future.
We started with Kelly, Coates, Allen, Shelvey, Sterling, Borini.. That's over half the team being 22 or younger. 3/4 of our outfield players if my quick and tipsy Maths is right!

Agger and Skrtel were first choice CBs last season when both fully fit and not suspended. Carra came in as and when he was needed.Originally posted by Redspin View PostOne thing's for sure, based on last season, neither Coates nor Sterling would have started. Downing was seemingly teflon- coated and Dalglish seemed to be fixated on Carragher at the back, even when our season was effectively over and results meaningless.
Thank God we have a manager who can see obvious shortcomings in players and who picks a team on merit rather than sentiment

Hmm, he probably wasnt as efficent as Allen I'd agree but I dont think he was poor by any stretch of the imagination.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostCan't agree with that mate. Look at his performances for England in the summer, he still has the talent without a doubt, I could agree with criticism of him in the first Gomel game but not today. The times they are a changin'.

Our first choice defenders are all only 26-28, Reina is still young for a keeper. Lucas is 25 I think.
The future looks good.
