Lol, second signing in a row completely out of the blue. Maybe the club actually managed to shut down all the genuine insiders?
Or maybe there weren't any to begin with?
Thing is though, we're actually rather short of strikers at the level just below the first team. Ecclestone just isn't very good, Pacheco (not really a striker anyway) looks to be off, and Morgan & Ngoo are still kids. Obviously we'd all hope this kid turns out to be another Sterling rather than another Nemeth, but only so many youth prospects will ever make it to the first team and to see us strengthening the youth ranks in attacking positions can only really e a good thing.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostI hope he's at a level where he's knocking on the first team door right away and doesn't become just another wonder kid who drifts into obscurity
No, he didn't.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostDid he play in our pre-season friendly?I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Now all my lies are proved untrue

What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

You could be right there and I suppose we will know pretty soonOriginally posted by broman View PostFair enough.
I'm not comparing him to Raheem in what he can do for us - Raheem is a regular first-teamer and Yesil won't be that here now, for many of the reasons you pointed out - but in terms of his talent and how ready he could be for first-team football. Compare him to Joao Carlos or Morgan at the same point and he's significantly ahead, and for that reason I expect him to be ahead of where they fell in the pecking order. I think he'll be close to challenging for the first team, but I would certainly agree that he's far from someone we can rely on and he'll probably only make occasional appearances.

Liverpool Football Club have today completed the signing of Samed Yesil from German club Bayer Leverkusen.
The 18-year-old striker will bolster the club's youth ranks after passing a medical on Thursday.
And he told Liverpoolfc.com: "The first thing is that I have to train and then in one or two years I hope, step by step, to be in the first team.
"It is my dream to play for Liverpool and I will give my all."
Yesil has scored 22 goals in 26 appearances for Germany at U16, U17 and U18 level.
He was second top scorer in last summer's FIFA U17 World Cup after netting six goals in Mexico. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
