Agreed. As a left back, Downing had a good game. Not sure about him defensively against good sides, but I can sort of see how playing him there could be quite an interesting (and attacking) move in some games.

Use him against the lesser teams and Enrique against the bigger teams. Mourinho does the same with Marcelo (lesser) and Coentrao (bigger).

He'll be fine for games like today where we will dominate games and against lesser sides at home, where he'll have little defending to do, but I can't see us playing him there in away games or big games.

At this stage, I dont have a problem with that at all. We'll see how he develops into the role.

Screw that, its not like we didn't have issues scoring with him in the team. Carroll was dreadful for us for 17 months, then had like 2 semi-decent games.

This was about the most embarrassing thing I have ever seen a striker at our club do.

I think Johnson makes a big difference.

I think Johnson is one of our best attacking outlets (and players) and we look a much worse team without him in it. We seem to lack options when he isn't on the pitch.

We must be signing a forward tomorrow, otherwise we wouldn't let big Andy go. Brendo said as much himself the other week (that he wouldn't let Carroll go when we only have 3 forwards).
