To be fair to him he was 20 when he played his first full season in the PL. Wasn't a bad return for a young player.
    Are we winning?

Of course, but it wasn't so bad, we weren't at our best and we'll get better .

Not the same position, not even remotely the same financial value. Rodgers has to be looking at who will be more productive (and better value for money), and imo he's totally right that Dempsey would be. If we sign him. We've not actually signed him yet have we?

As for Carroll, its telling that even Newcastle don't rate him enough to offer us half our money back to have him return. They're more than happy with what they've got instead. The only club interested in him at half what we paid a year ago is West Ham. That should tell us something. Carroll is great in a certain type of system, but he is very one-dimensional and simply not a good enough footballer to play in a mobile, passing orientated, ball to feet system. All there is to it really for me.

Yes I know, but it doesn't make him a good player and he has done nothing to suggest that he will be a top class player, he is technically and positionally no way near good enough. He will suit a side like WHU I suspect. But the truth is he should never have been bought by us, especially for the price.

It wasn't so bad, but it wasn't so good, we put better performances in last season, and there were a number of similarities to last season. I hope we will get better because I couldn't deal with another season like last season.

We massively overpaid for Carroll and at the price the club wants to sell him, there are no suitors. Yes, he doesn't fit our style of play.

We played much better last season. Now we're more pedestrian and creating less. But let's hope the grand plan falls into place.

Downing did well I'm hearing a lot. Most of his crosses were overcooked. More like, he did nothing wrong. He didn't do anything well though.

I don't think it's that telling to be honest, We all know we seriously over paid for him. Newcastle have moved on and did very well last season, of course they are happy. With their current ownership situation I don't see them spending that kind of money (~£17m) on anyone.

I agree with the one-dimensional aspect to his game, and he will suit a Sam Alladyce system, so lets hope that we can get the money we want for him from West Ham next summer, then we can all move on.

That's still a big improvement on last season
