Its one of the things that continually crops up - we moan about a player not being good enough to make us title challengers and then when we sell them or give them away there's folk saying he would have been great.

The trouble is to be title contenders we need players of the quality of chelsea and arsenal in our team. Which of these would qualify ?

    Davie Thompson
    Steven Wright
    John Welsh
    Jon Otsemobor
    David Raven
    Neil Mellor

I'm sure there's more but the point is they are at a push premiership players
but we have to accept they have not shown we were wrong to get rid

            He did.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

            * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

in stephen kelly's biog of houllier there is a bit about DT.

upon arrival houllier was shocked at the lack of professionalism in english football and at our club.

like wenger he wanted to change eating habits etc.

after a long lecture about what to eat and when etc, Houllier caught him eating a mars bar right after training. not saying it was the clincher or anything, but i'm sure that kind of thing wouldn't have gone down well with houllier
"At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques"
