i know some of fans disagreed with dempsey, but he could do well. but still, it was better lfc didn't buy some unknown and unproven player. i really hope ASSaidiwill "flourish", but he'll flop.

This isn't about Dempsey. I don't rate him at all, but looking at the list of our strikers is depressing and downright outrageous. How could the club let this thing happen?

We're going nowhere this season. Two senior strikers in the entire squad.

And one of those 'senior' strikers is 21, hasn't proved a single thing at Premier League level and has scored around 16 goals in his life. I wondered if I might feel better about it having slept on it, but I feel worse.

I remember when we only had one.

Effectively we've spent yet more money and have a weaker squad for it.

We've been **** at this for years.

Bloody hope Suarez suddenly becomes clinical and Borini settles and shows maturity beyond his years otherwise we aren't scoring many goals!

I was fairly optimistic about things up until yesterday but you can't trim so much out of the squad and leave only 2 strikers. Utter madness.

How many teams in the league have a weaker pool of forwards/attackers than us?

I'm actually kind of excited at the thought of having to use a number of youngsters this season. More so than had we signed a 29 year old journeyman soccer guy. (Although I did think he'd do well for us). Just look at Sterling for example. Not sure Morgan can make such an impression but you never know. Same with Yesil. So bring it on

It's certainly a transitional period. We will hopefully concentrate in the league.
                  Are we winning?

It would be great if the club used Robbie and Rushie to coach Suarez and Borini some composure in front of the goal

There will also be games when we are down to one available striker as Suarez has a habit of collecting yellow cards

Ehhhh do you not know the rules of this forum????? Ayre is a cunt.....so is Rodgers......Gerrard is past it........Allen was grossly overpriced......Suarez is ****......Agger is going to get injured and Borini is never going to make it.......

Basically optimism and general positivity are banned!!!

I'm also excited about seeing us develop as well to be honest. Also, I'd much prefer to see us develop a young talent before signing players that aren't good enough..... I think Dempsey and Sturridge (who I reckon Rodgers thought were both nailed on) would have been a improvement but I think the club were right not. To overpay for either.......Sturridge is worth 8-10m max and Dempsey maybe 4m considering his age and contract length.......I also wouldn't have given them Henderson (who I think will come good) for dempsey....

I'm as pissed off as anyone that we didn't get someone in.....but the club is ****ed because weave overspent on fees and wages over the last couple of years.....so we were right to keep our powder dry....

Also, the likes of Morgan, Suso, sterling, Kelly, Flanagan, robinson.....maybe even the likes of wisdom, Coady etc can now have chances.....it's up to them.....

I suppose the door is wide open for the youngsters now, and I Much prefer the idea of a load of lads giving 100% to some overpaid half arsed journeymen who couldn't give a toss. That only really works in our favour if the young players are good though.

I don't think the youngsters are ready to make the step up, however I thought that about Sterling and he's proven me totally wrong. United seem to do well bringing youngsters into the first team, I just hope some of our kids are ready. I suppose they have something to prove and they're likely to put more effort into playing. I'd feel happier watching a kid with potential trying their best rather than a player with experience and quality pissing about on the pitch.

I think Yesil may be pivotal - we will get injuries and suspensions - Morgan looked out of his depth against Hearts, Sterling will score from his cut in off the left wing move a few times, so a young striker with a reputation to make - exciting times for him. Also plenty of opportunities with League Cup, FA Cup, Europa League games.
