They scored their first from a counterattack and had numerous breaks from counters early on

Even a trained chimp like me could see that a player should be sitting / holding

Lucas going out is a big miss but Kenny had to suffer that last season

I think the football will become more possession based but we will still be toothless and as such teams will exploit our flaws more readily

Cant say I'm that optimistic of much if any improvement this season

You can see this already, both this week and last week we've been left with our centre backs 2 vs 2 at the back, we need to either have one fullback holding back or one of the midfield three sitting.

Other things I have noticed is that we are playing the ball around too much at the back, I'm all for pass and move football, but there are times when you have to put your foot through the ball, at times we were passing the ball around at the back playing some 'nice' stuff, but losing the ball in our defensive third. We seem to value possession too much and this is a problem further up the field instead of playing balls in to players in the box, too often we play the safe pass, and that is rarely going to create chances.

They have a good backline and have always been good at counter attacking. The counter attacking is what caught us.

They didn't allow us to play, Allen wasn't allowed to set the tempo - Sahin and Gerrard were dominated out of the game and thus Suarez and Borini were non entities, in reality they were very comfortable.

May have been a mistake but are you telling me that you would set up a midfield and instruct them to allow midfield runners beyond them

We got caught with too many people high up the pitch, one pass bypassed Allen & Sahin and completely exploited our lack of pace

Rodgers needs to make adjustments to compensate for this

They also had one were Diaby broke on the midfield romped past Allen & Sahin like they were running in treacle and I think Gibbs missed the shot

I don't think the system we've is compatible with his strengths. We need to get him further up the pitch where he can do more damage to the opposition and less damage to us.

It's a rather shocking state of affairs when a 17 year old making his second league start is our main attacking threat. I think we need to write off till Christmas, take what we can get from games and home that the players have become accustomed to the style by then in time for a 2nd half of the season charge as at the minute the players don't seem to know how to track men, find space, find each other in the final third or create.

I'd agree with this to some extent. Had we got the first goal (Agger?) we'd have gone on to win I believe. It is fine margins in that sense.

What was not acceptable was the team coming out second half and straight out the blocks showing no fight. Disgrace.

Yes, there's far too much expectation on his shoulders for a player purchased for a family pack of wotsits.

I got the feeling that Gerrard hasn't fully bought in to the system. It was almost like he was on his own trying to do things.

Unfortunately for him he isn't the ****ing manager and he just do as he's told, if that's the case of course.

Yep with 7 goals conceded and no goals scored from open play in our games so far.
