it's cut me up, kept it in all day, reading the documents and listening to the radio, choking back on a lump in my throat, but sitting at home now watching the vigil has got me.
I was only about 8 when it happened, but my dad was there, I remember it all like it was yesterday, playing footie in the garden with a lad who lived next door but one, my mum had the match on the radio in the kitchen, came running out in tears and dragged me in....I didn't have a clue what the **** was going on, couldn't comprehend what was happening, my grandparents on my dad side rushing round, my grandad being a rock and looking after us, and eventually hours and hours later later my dad called from someone's house in Sheffield to say he was ok...I think that's literally the only words he spoke for days, it took him a few years before he started going the game, and to this day can't handle crowds.
I've often spoke to him about hillsborough and Hesyel(he was there to) he has very strong views on Hesyel and will speak openingly about it..in contrast he doesn't and.has hardly told me anything about hillsborough except he felt helpless at the time, and as a result tremendous guilt afterwards that he couldn't do anything to help people. When the subject comes up he cuts it short and talks about something else
I am going to see if he fancies a pint tonight

FOLLOWING today’s Independent Panel Report Rangers Football Club would like to send its support to the families who lost loved ones and everyone affected by the Hillsborough Disaster on April 15, 1989.
Rangers Chief Executive Charles Green said: “On this significant day our thoughts are with the families of the 96 people who lost their lives, the survivors and the Liverpool supporters.
“It is completely unimaginable that 96 people could attend a football match and never return home and I know the Rangers family feel the same following the loss of 66 Rangers supporters who lost their lives in the 1971 Ibrox Disaster.
“Rangers and Liverpool fans have a strong bond as they have united to commemorate the tragedies that have sadly marked the history of both clubs.
"We hope the independent report released today will help to bring some level of comfort now the truth about what happened that terrible day 23 years ago is known.”
