      FA Statement: Hillsborough Report
      Thursday, 13 September 2012.

The Football Association commends the work of the Hillsborough Independent Panel.
"Having thoroughly reviewed yesterday's report in full, The Football Association would like to commend the Hillsborough Independent Panel for their exhaustive and professional work.

"It is also important that The FA recognises the tireless commitment shown by so many, particularly the Hillsborough Family Support Group.

"We welcome the publication of the report and the subsequent comments of the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.

"The FA reiterates its deep and ongoing sadness at the dreadful events that unfolded on 15 April 1989.

"The organisation's thoughts at this time remains with the families of all those who lost their lives in such terrible circumstances, as well as everyone connected with the City of Liverpool.

"For 23 years the families have suffered unbearable pain, and we have profound sympathy for this.

"The FA has cooperated fully with the Panel throughout this process and has released all documentation in line with their request.

"The FA and English football has changed immeasurably, and has learnt many lessons in the last 23 years. Through advancements in safety and investment in facilities English football is now a much safer, more welcoming environment for supporters.”
No sign of any responsibility being taken here for allowing a game to be played in an unfit stadium.

I don't know (can't remember mentioning it anyway) if I have ever mentioned it but I lost my 19 year old cousin at Hillsborough. 23 years on and we finally know what happened to cause his very preventable death.

I wasn't at the cathedral but my Dad was and he couldn't put into words how emotional a day it was. I am sure you can all imagine.

It's a massive relief. Not just to know what happened but to get the people of the city of Liverpool exonerated from any blame.

My hope now is that we all continue with the same dignity moving forward and hope that it takes a lot less than 23 years to bring those who are accountable to justice. The amount this has been covered up surpassed even my wildest nightmares.

RIP David and the 95 others.
        Oh I don't know.

          Yes, they should apologise.

I suspect that the majority of stadiums were not fit for purpose at that time. For that, they absolutely have to take some responsibility.

That FA statement is awful; lip service, followed by how helpful they have been and concluded with how things are better now.

With criminal cases probably following these revelations, i don't expect the FA to be admitting to anything any time soon.

It is a really bland statement from the FA, made worse by the amount of time they have taken to release it. Surely they could have prepared something yesterday.

                Absolute joke of an organisation.

Apparently the feeling from the FA is that they apologised back when the Taylor report came out.
                    *Except Michael, who died.

Really? thats unbelievable eh. You would have thought this was a good opportunity for them to show what the organisation stands for in 2012, to show they have heart. That statement contains no emotion.

A relief of sorts yesterday. I hope it is of some comfort to the families and Liverpool family involved. It is incredible that it took the efforts of those most affected to expose the truth. I may have been ignorant, but am genuinely sickened by the lengths to which the cover up extended. Hearing one mother say she felt elated for the first time since her son died made me realise how long the families needlessly suffered. Life is too short. I am very proud to be a Liverpool fan today and hope the momentum will get the 96 and their families the justice they always deserved.

Keyes and Gray saying one apology is missing so far, The FA.

'They choose a ground unfit for purpose, one that had no safety certificate'.
