Still spinning, still dissembling, still 'mentioning' how the fans "made the job of the police .. harder than it needed to be".

    Still lying.
He sounds ****ing desperate to me

Anyone still clinging to the Police side of events in any way shape or form is ****ing clueless, deluded or oblivious or a combination of all 3

Yeah, read that yesterday too. Bruce turned around to a Police Officer and asked her to open the gate and she declined because she had to get permission from her boss or something.

      Absolutely ****ing disgusting.

it turns my stomach to think that most of those police stood around and watched, waiting for the word from their superiors, but non came...
yet, very few of them, it seems, actually realised there was something catastrophic happening and decided to help using their own initiative

the police outside preventing the ambulances access... you cant go in, they are still fighting

**** ups at every level, then all swept under the carpet...
we know that the head of the police knew things were being covered up. so then must the home secretary, prime minister and the cabinet. then the coroner... then the list just becomes massive.

Bettison's statement is preparing his ground for a trial I think. if he admits any guilt/apologises for any part he has played then he's in massive loads of ****e.

It still hasn't sunk in yet. This is extraordinary. The scale of the conspiracy is just mindblowing. I always believed the HJC were right but I never knew HOW right.

I hope those individuals guilty are eventually held accountable (that includes the FA) but I'd also like to see major financial compensation to all the families for 23 years of lies, deceit and fighting for justice.

Agree with Lecter about Jack Straw. He had the chance to put right what was so obviously wrong but IMO he did not see this issue as of major importance. It was 'brush under the carpet' stuff for him. Alas, the families had to go through another 16 years of fighting.

Hillsborough: Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill praises courage of Liverpool families in their fight for truth

                Sep 13 2012

Martin O’Neill has praised the courage of the Liverpool families whose fight for justice over the Hillsborough tragedy finally uncovered the truth.

The Hillsborough Independent Panel revealed yesterday in a 396-page document that a police cover-up had taken place which had intended to shift blame for the events at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest, which claimed the lives of 96 Liverpool fans, to the victims themselves.

Former Forest midfielder O’Neill, now manager at Sunderland, who host the Reds in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday evening in what is certain to be an emotionally-charged game, said: "It’s been going on for so, so long, but it is total vindication for those Liverpool people who felt this was worthy, to fight this all the way.

"They always felt they had been maligned greatly and it has worked for them.

"I think everyone is in total agreement that it’s a total vindication of their thoughts and their viewpoints at the time, and they must draw some sort of comfort from this, even though 96 people still lost their lives.

"In many aspects, it’s rather late, but if there is such a thing as a victory for them, it is that.

"It doesn’t bring people back, of course, but they have been totally and utterly vindicated."

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez said the deaths were not only a tragedy for Liverpool as a club and a city, but for the whole of football.

He said: "I know that sometimes you see things that are away from your football club, but you feel part of it. I think it affects the whole football family.

"In many ways, it’s a moment where a bit of truth allows you to have a bit of closure. All of our feelings and sympathies goes to the families of the 96 people.

"I’m sure that from now on they can fight for justice, but it is an issue that affects the whole football family and we feel part of that. Our thoughts go to them.

"I thought it was a very important moment to try to get that truth and closure which is very important. It was probably the biggest tragedy in British football and that really affected everyone in football."

Speaking to friends last night and one of them said to me that he can understand the fierce loyalty that most LFC fans have for Dalglish now, and why they react badly to criticism. The man was a rock for the city and the 96 families during that period. That can never be forgotten.

After leveling off from yesterday's emotional high, my piss is starting to boil again....

(I know some would say business needs to continue, but when I hear that Weds were looking for compensation because the game was cancelled..........it doesn't sit right)

Solidarity In Sunderland For Liverpool's First Fixture After Hillsborough Report

                              By Jenny Wotherspoon Location: Sunderland

Liverpool travel to the Stadium of Light for the team's first fixture since the truth of the Hillsborough tragedy was published in an independent report.

The visiting fans could find the usual energetic banter between the teams is muted as they arrive for the Premier League match on Saturday September 15.

Sunderland supporters have told Sky Tyne and Wear they want to show solidarity with the Merseysiders at the close of a harrowing week.

Some say they will join in with the Liverpool anthem You'll Never Walk Alone, while others feel a minute's silence would be appropriate.

In a damning 395-page report, the Hillsborough Independent Panel confirmed that South Yorkshire Police had altered 164 statements taken on the day of the disaster to deflect blame away from officers and on to fans.

96 innocent supporters died and hundreds more were injured during a crush at the start of the FA Cup semi-final match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough stadium in April 1989.

As the report was published, thousands gathered in Liverpool city centre for a vigil in their memory.

The families of the Liverpool fans killed said the report had vindicated them, and have pledged to carry on their fight by pursuing criminal prosecutions against the police.

Margaret Aspinall, chairwoman of the Hillsborough Families Support Group, said: "They were a disgrace, they were a mockery and the system should be ashamed of itself. The fight will go on."

The Hillsborough Families Support Group can now also start the process of overturning the inquest verdicts of accidental death, which is already being considered by the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve.

I was thinking similar. Something like knighthoods, but then that just seems completely wrong on so many levels too.
