**** it - 1 point from 9 against the 3 title contenders but at least those games are out of the way now. We'll win some of our next games and we'll settle in some more youngsters. Rodgers will make an opportunity out of a crisis, we'll muddle on playing well a lot of the time but not putting teams away clinically until January when we'll buy a striker (amongst others). We'll have tightened up a lot at the back by then and we'll climb up the table till May. We won't be top 4 but we'll strengthen even more in the summer and next season we'll see a Rodgers LFC going for it and winning.

I like the way we play, i like the youngsters being promoted.

BUT

2pts after 5 games, the worst start since 1911 and we have only 5 wins in 2012 - it's a downward spiral, and for me the blame has to lie with FSG.

Chin up Imy, I think the stats are misleading. It would have been a different game if Shelvey hadn't been sent off.

You said FSG haven't backed Rodgers but you reckon they were willing to overpay for a player he wanted. It looks like a contradiction.

I didn't say the did not back Rodgers mate to be fair but they have ruined any chance of us in their words "seeing improvement" this season when they did not allow rodgers to bring in a striker to replace Carroll. £6m for Dempsey is nothing these days.

So we were in a "downward spiral" in 2012, FSG take action and replace Dalglish with Rodgers and after 5 matches you're saying the change has failed.

That's just stupid.

And you think Dempsey would have made the difference today? Well, I doubt it but woop-di-doo, maybe you're right and maybe you're wrong, there's no way of knowing. Still, I didn't notice us miss that many clearcut chances.

£11m wasted

I've said this before but I think it is relavant to this discussion. I think taken in isolation spending £11m on Borini isn't a bad thing, but I think given the context of where the club was in the summer and the money we had to spend it perhaps wasn't the best decision in hindsight. I have nothing against Borini, I just think he is a young player who will take time to develop and to adapt to the league, and I see enough in him to suggest he could be a good player a few years down the line. The problem is that at the time of signing we needed a striker who could make an impact immediately and he (probably) wasn't going to. The fact that he is having to play whether he is ready or not could hamper his development particularly if people start getting on his back, because there is more pressure an expectation on him to be the player who will make an impact immediately. So I feel sorry for him.

I put it down to the Thursday game and lack of consistent playing for a long period.
