Yeah it's the same situation as you say. The same applies for both, the ref has to treat both the same, he either lets both off, books both or sends both off, it probably doesn't make any difference which one he decides because it keeps the game even. Punishing one and not the other is the problem. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Why did Shelvey have words with Fergie? I missed all that.
Thought we played great all things considered. The big test is still to come. Playing the little diddy teams. We are unlucky to have no victories yet. If we keep working like that it will surely come. There is change coming and its just over the hill. Its just a matter of getting over the hill. (Yes, I did just use a classic Rodgers cliched quote)

I think he might be trying to change the way we play and that might have weakened us defensively to some extent. I imagine he would say it's temporary.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostYou don't win games if you dont score goals. Also what has rodgers done to our defense? We had a solid defence last season and its gone too **** this season.
But it could be we're locked in a death spiral and have begun an inexorable plummet through the leagues like a latter-day Northampton Town.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard on his side's defeat by Manchester United: "We played really well today with 11 and even better with 10 so it's disappointing. It's not a red card. I'm not going to stand here and say a Manchester United player should be sent off but you look for consistency and if he [the referee] is adamant it was a red then Jonny Evans should have had a red as well. I knew at the time it wasn't a red.
"If we keep playing like that and showing that determination it won't be long [until we get a first league win of the season]. We are not going to keep blaming luck and keep making excuses and we need it at Norwich. We will keep plugging away.

I think it's the issue of pushing the fullbacks forward more, and not having someone like Lucas to sit in front of the centrebacks. That said I thought that the defence did well today.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostYou don't win games if you dont score goals. Also what has rodgers done to our defense? Jonjo Shelvey @shelveyJ 6m
I apologise to the fans for getting sent off but no way was I pulling out of that tackle in a game of that importance. Im sorry.
Jonjo Shelvey @shelveyJ 5m
I have also apologised to sir Alex , just where I come from people don't grass people up to get someone sent off.

It's incredible how badly halsey performed. Anyways its over nothing we can do. Thought Gerrard was outstanding. Johnson, Kelly and sterling were excellent... Bringing the predictably non existent Henderson on for him was baffling to me as he was giving evra a nightmare, took the punch out of our attack.
Borini worries me, clearly not a wide man but yet Rogers seems to play him there. Has good movement and works hard but he looks technically horrible and seems to have no composure. I thought we bought Borini to stay in the box and score goals?
I was glad to see suso on instead of him, looked miles a better player. Ah well worse start in over 100 years and someone clearly has put a hex on us!
Still think Rogers and Liverpool have been unlucky with decisions, performance s and injuries. But I suppose we just haven't taken our chances when we are on top of games.. Same old story.
Modifying post.

Oh yes it is. Same as last season. Playing well but not scoring anywhere near the goals that should reflect our dominance.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostI think our lack of depth in the striker department is being overstated. It will affect us over the course of the season, but it isn't why we're 2 out of 15 right now.
