Why? Other sports don't concern themselves with that crap and professional football is already different to grass roots with things like officials being in contact with earpieces, fourth officials, the extra officials in European games etc.
That Grass Roots excuse doesn't hold any water at all. For exactly the reasons you point out. All this along with, 'its just part of the game' and 'they level themselves out over a season' banded about like it is scientific fact, when its not. Its just the logic of a complete ****wit, and thats what we are dealing with here. Its complete bollocks. Also, in grass roots footy isn't one of the linesman normally supplied by each teams (it was in my day). Imagine that in pro footy

The other sports have succesfully used these rules for so long now, its hardly new technology. I don't think the goalline stuff is as important as this if there are more than 5 debatable 'ball over line' decisions in a season I'll be surprised.

And Ferguson doesn't control over grass roots football. That alone makes it totally different from the Premier League.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I just don't see why we don't have some sort of challenge system in football. The same as Tennis and Cricket. Say three challenges the manager can make per match which go to Video ref. Then it is the Video refs call, and even if you disagree in the slightly debatable ones you just have to live with it (ths is how it happens with tries in Rugby, some are impossible to call, but the teams live with the video refs decision). Any instance where the forwards leg is left in should not be a pen, it is cheating every time.

How ****ing hard would that be to implement? Not hard at all
It would certainly discourage the diving, imagine having a dive like Youngs highlighted on a big screen during the game. He'd look a complete ****.
I totally agree, but you only need to look at MOTD's unanimous 10/10 rating for Halsey on the weekend to see that, even with video technology, we're not going to have a consensus on what the right call is in a given situation.

In some cases like the Shelvey/Evans tackle because there is a stoppage in play for treatment it is very easy to have a look at it again in slow motion.
1 glance at a reply there would have meant an equal punishment for both players be that yellow or red.
It would also stop all this surrounding the referee as there is no point applying pressure to influence a decision when the ref or 4th official can see it again in 30 seconds.

Getting the correct decision more often is far more important that the arguement of the game losing some of it's excitment because of a 30 second delay, if anything it heightens the anticipation a little like the video ref for tries in rugby and run outs in cricket
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I agree, but we have this anyway - so I'd say the V ref can only help. And as with contentious video ref decisions in other sports, you just have to suck it up and get on with it.
