Wisdom is 19, as strong as an ox and played Wednesday/Saturday, he has effectively 5 days rest before playing Thursday/Sunday.

That's 4 games in 12 days. He won't even feel that at 19.
I agree it's a problem if he picked up an injury but he also might get knocked over crossing the street, fall ill or get injured in training.

Resting players like Johnson, Gerrard, Agger, Allen, Skrtel, Suarez makes perfect sense as they either have a history of injuries if over played or are too important for us to risk.

Lads like Sterling and Suso will probably be left out as they are younger, have a smaller/slighter physical build and do need protecting a little more.

Resting or protecting Wisdom 2 games into his career would be bonkers
I'm not sure it would be 'bonkers'. It is unusual but surely the aim is to protect our first choice XI and whilst Enrique remains rubbish and Kelly injured then Wisdom is in it. I can see the point about Wisdoms age but then a lot has been made of how the number of games Owen played at a young age led to his later injury problems. If people better informed than I think that limiting the number of games is good for him then I'd be happy for that to happen.

It seems pretty obvious that playing games offers a higher risk than other activities - if not why is it sensible to rest Johnson, Gerrard, etc?

All of that said I think it would also be fair enough to play him if the manager thinks that would be best for all concerned. I certainly wouldn't object to the back 4/5 getting games together.

I think if you want to lay him you should probably get his permission before asking the coach. Just a thought.

I'd like to see that, wisdom is probably going to remain first choice RB while enrique is injured but Mclaughlin is quite highly rated, already a full international albeit for wee Norn Iron. As for Flanno, i think he will go a similar way as spearing, a solid player but perhaps not good enough to have a long-term career at the club.

I know its nice to see the Kids play. But this thread seems to have turned into 'Name the Youth team player yet to feature in the First Team'

Think we need to be more grounded in our choices. Id like to see a few of the lads already given a run out. But Udinese are a difficult team. So a few of our seasoned pros wouldn't go a miss either.

I would personally like to see Allen play in CM again with Gerrard and Sahin. It'd be fantastic to see these 3 continue to develop an understanding.

I think Shelvey should and will play, so one of the midfield three for Sunday can be fresh for that game.

I'm sure Rodgers has learned from the poor performance against Arsenal, although I'd agree the sort of line-up we had against Young Boys would be asking for trouble.

The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I think the 3 in the middle will be Henderson, Shelvey and Sahin again. Its a nice combination, and it seems to be what he likes in non PL games.

Edit: Sahin and Henderson that is.

                          Agree with both points.

Go for a midfield three of Henderson, Shelvey and Sahin which keeps Gerrard and Allen fresh for the weekend.

Not sure about the forward line. Assaidi, Borini and Yesil perhaps.

Defence of Jones, Wisdom, Coates, Carragher and erm, Wilson at LB?!

Then for the match on Sunday go with the same team that beat Norwich last week.

Edit: Forgot about Robinson and Pacheco. Play Robinson at LB if he's fit and start Pacheco for one of the above forwards.

team picks itself for this game:

                            jones

                            wisdom - carra - coates - robinson

                            henderson - shelvey - sahin

                            assaidi - borini - suso

wisdom could do with a good run of games, sahin still needs time to bed and more games the better, suso is the same as wisdom.

id like to see joe cole at some point soon after half time - give him as close to 40 mins as possible ideally for fitness reasons.

I think we'll see Downing start with Suso on the bench to keep him fresh for the weekend.
