So who is world class in our Lineup?

Was thinking about our lineup the other day, esp after Momo got injured. Was wondering who people think our our true world beaters?

Certainly Stevie, although Xabi has the ability to be world class (if not the consistency at the moment) apart from that I think we're a bit short. Fowler 11 yrs ago would defo have been. I think Momo could be but he is still very young. Kuyt looks hardworking but not quite world class.

    Anyone care to comment?

Only Stevie I reckon mate. Alonso has not shown his ability anywhere near often enough.

God, in his heyday I agree, and I also believe Sami was world class several seasons ago. I would not have swapped him for anyone.

All this world class business is opinion really, I don't know if your suggesting it's important but I tend to think it isn't.

How many in the Man u squad are world class - Rooney and Ronaldo at a push.
Arsenal - Henry (dont think the likes of fabregas or van persie are yet)
Chelsea - well they are a different matter
      but
as they have shown in one or two games this season, it's not the world class players you have in the team but how the team works together.

As for us I'd say Stevie G is probably the only one - players like Alonso Garcia Kuyt Carra Crouch Sissoko Riise Reina- All have the capability to be world class on their day but it remains to be seen if some can make the step.

Agger could be a tip to be world class in the future.

yes agree with you about Agger, he certainly is showing a lot of promise. If Garcia could focus all that skill and imagination he could be brilliant for us.

I'd say at arsenal you could include Lungberg, Gallas, Toure along with henry. Think th elikes of Rosicky, van persie and baptista could be wc on their day. Cesc and Walcott are on their way to being wc, cesc is showing a lot more consistency and maturity this year.

As for the mancs, agree re rooney and ronaldo, but giggs and scholes could walk into any team in the world still and saha has the skill on his day but is not consistent enough. Rio, **** that he is, has all the talent to be wc but just cant be bothered to go that extra mile. Van Der Saar is still top quality.

It's subjective - depends on your definition of world class, for me there have been very few world class players ever - Pele, Maradona, Platini, Cruyff, Best to name a few - more recently Zidane, Ronnaldinho etc.... but it's an exclusive club. The term world class is chucked about too easily.

I disagree with almost all of those names, Lungberg has had his day may have been at one time, Toure certainly isn't. Gallas I'd forgotten about, so possibly him. Giggs and Scholes certainly wouldn't wlk into any team in the world, but again in years gone by the might have. Rio I've never been convinced of since he's been at Man U, and Van Der Saar maybe.

I have always considered world class as someone who would get in or be considered in a world 11

                      So therefore

                      Arsenal - Henry
                      Liverpool - Gerrard
                      Scum - Rooney and Ronaldo

exactly, my definition of world class is who would be in the first team in a world 11, and I'd be surprised if apart Chelsea many teams had more than 1 player good enough to be in a world 11.

going by that you would have to include alonso and carra and possibly even luis from our team

World Class surely must mean they are the BEST or second best player in the world in their position.

                              Therefore:

Gerrard is the only player I would consider World Class at Liverpool.

Arsenal have Henry, and possibly Gallas that are WC.

Man United have Rooney and Ronaldo.

Chelsea have Terry and Cech. Shevchenko, A.Cole and Makalele were WC, but maybe just past their best now.

I don't think that are any more WC players in the league after those mentioned above - although there are a few with the potential to be WC in the future, Lennon, Van Persie, Richards, Carson (perhaps)...
