I said in the summer he should go out on loan as he was too good for the reserves.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Play Reina ahead of the w/e's PL game.
Suso needs to play at the point of the 3, for all his technique and skill he has actually produced nothing of note for a few games now. I think he'll be very good but his football is about creating or scoring and he hasn't done either.

If Assaidi plays well vs Swansea then I'd keep him in at the w/e ahead of Suso.

Edit - Posted this without reading the earlier posts and now realise it's exactly the same team Shaggy picked.
So to summerize - I'd play the same team that Shaggy posted earlier
      I was gonna say

Agree on the Flanagan consensus. It's a shame his last real chance was Blackburn where he was ****ing dreadful, I can't see him being a Rodgers full back though. I just don't think he offers anything going forwards.

As for the team, I'd go with something like:

        Reina/Jones (fitness permitting)
        Flanagan
        Carragher
        Coates
        Downing

        Henderson
        Shelvey
        Sahin

        Suso
        Yesil
        Assaidi

Definitely Suarez and Gerrard need resting.

I think Henderson isn't being given a fair crack to be honest, I don't know if Rodgers wants to keep him out of the limelight after he was exposed so much last season but what with him trying to farm him out to ****ing Fulham in summer i'm not so sure.
He's a bit of a crab no doubt, but in a midfield with Shelvey and Sahin we should have enough to beat Swansea who looked ****e at weekend, that Korean lad apart.

Yeah I'd play Downing at LB too. plus the rest for that matter.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

No way would I play Downing at LB in this game ahead of Robinson.

If he's to have any sort of future at LFC he needs games, further up he doesn't really inspire anyone, but overlapping Assaidi there is potential.

I really rate Robinson, but we either need to get Downing in and around the first team or shipped out in Jan. Playing him will result in either of these.

When he first broke into the team I though he was excellent going forward, extremely composed on the ball (especially against Arsenal). After a few promising performances early on, he did seem to struggle a bit and as you say that Blackburn debacle must have really rattled his confidence. I see a few similarities with the Insua situation, both came in to a well functioning team and slotted in seamlessly, however the following season when the team wasn’t playing so well their inexperience was badly exposed (also think Kuyt should have played ahead of Henderson in the Sunderland match last year and that would have helped Flanagan).

Anyway, it’s a clean slate under Rodgers and I’m sure he’s excited by his chances having watch other youngsters come in and do so well. I’d at least like to see him given a couple of starts under BR before we write him off completely.

You could arguably say the same about Robinson though - and I know who's future I'm more concerned about!

Reece, whilst you're right I'm not even slightly worried about Robinson being our first choice left back for ten years or more, he's going to be brilliant.

Downing is a difficult one, I can't even say he divides the fanbase because everyone dislikes him it seems
I don't know, I can't see the harm in playing him at left back v Swansea but certainly wouldn't complain if Robinson got the nod. Left back is a position we need sorting soon, Enrique is not the droid we are looking for.

I hope we play an entirely different team midweek. We need to keep the lads fit. You could see in the Everton game the effect of the midweek game on energy levels. I want Pacheco to be given a chance because he impressed the last time and he deserves it.

I think that's a bold statement . I think Robinson has lots of potential, but I'm still not entirely convinced he's going to make it with us. The jury's still out on that one for me. Still we're awful at left back so he will get his shot at some point this season, I hope he takes it.

Pacheco is another I fear is a lost cause. (**** I'm slating our youngsters today aren't I? ). If he was going to make it, he would have by now.

It's a shame because he's a classy footballer, but I think he's falling behind the likes of Suso and Assaidi in the pecking order and I can't see him getting enough games to stay. I reckon he'll be loaned out/sold in January personally.
