Joe Cole has hardly had a decent run in the team since he's been here yet we're all quick to stamp on him.

Feel sorry for Cole a bit.

Between now and the end of the week Cole will have another 100k minus taxes deposited in his bank account.

Unable to feel sorry for him. It is not like he tried and did not do well. He did not try at all.

But you could say the same about most of our players, they're all pretty much on 100k a week bar a few youngsters so you could argue that most of them don't deserve what they're on. And if I'm being honest none of them including Gerrard deserve to be on more than 5000k a week, that's more than what most normal people earn per month for working their tits off.

I'm not defending Cole here btw but I feel he's being targeted a bit unfairly.

My point is he's not getting games so therefore cannot prove his fitness and his worth to the team therefore justifying his 100k a week.

His day's are numbered either way, Rodgers doesn't want him here and neither do the fans by the looks of things.

          I feel sorry for Yesil.

To play one up, and be the point man, requires a player who is pretty much an all rounder. Good at everything. Fast, able to hold the ball up, dribble, good in the air and physically strong. They will also require good service and for either the midfielders or wide players to come in close to play off, or they will become isolated.

I dont think its a position where you can bring a young player in, a young player who is still developing physically. Only a few players can play there effectively, and they are going to be expensive. Fortuantely, Suarez is one of those players. I am not sure we can afford to bring in someone else, and expect them to do the job well.

Last night was the eighth time that Liverpool have conceded two or more goals in a game. Suggests they aren't getting the basics right.

That's probably true, however, we've also had to change our defence a fair bit this season, rely on 17/18 year olds, have an out-of-form keeper (and despite a string of good saves last night, a replacement who quite frankly isn't good enough), play players out of position (i.e. Henderson last night), and possibly the biggest factor - we've not had a natural defensive midfielder in Lucas' absence.

They're all facts rather than excuses, but I do think they've played a part. I don't know if it's also a case of Rodgers and his team not coaching the defensive side of things properly.

I listened on the radio and kept half an eye on the stream last night, but it seemed on many occasion Allen was left alone to cover in midfield. Cole was non existent, and Shelvey clearly likes to get forward so Allen was left exposed. Add in the full backs bombing forwards and you're asking for trouble.

So as well as desperately needing some more firepower in the transfer window, we also need some out and out defensive midfield cover. Which we all already knew but hey

I do not get, why Yesil is on, when Morgan cannot get a game. Why was Assaidi taken off, when Downing just isn't up to anything other than wasted passes to a defender - or 7 miles off the target when free? Why Henderson at RB, when Flanagan would do better - and Coady should have played for Allan instead of burning out that small light left in him.

                Cole isn't worth mentioning - just isn't ........

This is very true. Allen was tired enough without having to do all the running for Shelvey and Cole as well. It was painful to see at times. He was trying but there was only so much he could do.

Seeing how they lined up in possession, Henderson was being asked to do a Johnson role - it was properly asymmetric. When we had the ball the three other defenders would line up in a 3 whereas Henderson would push forward to give an extra man in midfield. THat wasn't so bad when we had the ball, but when we didn't he looked a bit lost positionally, constantly losing his man.

As for the Cole thing, Slinky - it wasn;t just the fact that he was missing a bit of match fitness, it was the complete shell of a man he looked. He was puffing and blowing very, very early into the match. Thats neglect and lack of professionalism. He can't be putting time into the basics. He was weak and he also was overhitting the simple ball. An affront.

It was great finally winning something again last season, and getting to another final, but after seeing the manager getting sacked after last season, it's hardly surprising a new manager is not going to prioritize the cups from now on. The owners have made their priorities clear.

                      Sadly.

Cole needs to be shipped out sharpish, even if we have to pay half his wages.

With any luck that'll be the last time we see Cole playing for us. The smallest of silver linings from the game.....

No one in their right mind would take him - & even if we were paying half his wages that would still mean some dickhead club paying him £50k a week.... Blackburn anyone?!

Its not the players fault it's Rodgers. He picked the team and there was no chance that first half team would ever overcome a decent Swansea side. The blame is the managers.
