More lethal? We've scored twelve to Newcastle's eleven.

Better team? They've yet to win away from home.

I think people are thinking it's the same Newcastle as last year; They struggled with an unsettled back line, struggled for goals and have shunted their best striker out to the left. They've clearly got players that can hurt us, but we've got a better unit and should have more than enough for them today.

ESPN Classic are showing Liverpool / Newcastle games.

Currently showing is the 3 - 0 game from the 93/94 season with Cole scoring a hattrick.

Up next is the original 4 - 3 game.

I hope we win but I cant see us stopping them scoring and I cant see us scoring too many either.

I dread to think if we don't win. Rodgers is on a worse points tally than Hodgson after this many games, and I get the impression some fans are just itching to get the knives out.

He's on a worse points tally now? Or will be if we don't win today?

Right now. Although I am taking the word of BBC and Sky, so it may be false.

Jeez. Although I'm fairly sure Hodgson had a much easier start - we've obviously already played City, United and Arsenal.

He needs to start scoring some goals that's for sure.

We had nine points after nine games under Hodgson. Rodgers currently has ten ...

And Roy had also played City, United, Arsenal and Everton.

                      Just checked.

Right now, Brendan Rodgers is one point ahead of Roy Hodgson's Liverpool after 9 league games. If we don't win today, he'll be at least one point worse off.

I thought the same and had typed out my agreement with you, but thought best to double check.

Very tough game, think it'll be a draw or Newcastle win. Our home form has been so incredibly bad that is probably physiological at this stage

Ironically enough, both Hodgson's and Rodgers' first nine games included West Brom, Man City, Arsenal, Sunderland, Man Utd, Everton and a promoted team with Chelsea and Wigan coming up.

Still, it's all nonsene anyway, because we are not playing ****e football.

The Hodgson / Rodgers comparison just goes to show it's not all about points. I feel infinitely more relaxed about where we are now in comparison to where we were when Hodgson was in charge. I like Rodgers' philosophy and you can see what he's trying to achieve. Statistically, there might only be 1 point difference, but to me it feels as different as night and day.
