In goal scoring terms we absolutely are a one man team at the moment. Now that Gerrard can no longer be relied on to get to double figures in a season there really are just no goals in the entire rest of our team at all. Sahin and Shelvey might be good for the odd one or two, and you'd hope that over the next 5 years or so Sterling and Suso add that to their games, but otherwise until be bring in some more attacking threats to take the pressure off Luis we are always going to be drawing a significant proportion of games like that one where we should clearly be the winners.Originally posted by Redspin View PostI don't know what game you watched but we were very much the better team. We made Newcastle look a poor side and it's hard to believe they finished above us last season. Was their goal their only shot on target? Certainly they never remotely threatened to score again
Only the usual failing of not capitalising on overwhelming superiority stopped us winning
We need goals from midfield to beat even average teams like Newcastle but I can't see where they're coming from.
If we'd won by three goals it wouldn't have flattered us on the balance of play
A good transfer window in terms of adding more goal threats and I'm really quite optimistic about how the last few months of the season, and the future beyond that, will pan out.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

I'm entitled to criticise one of the numerous really bad players he dumped on us at vast expense, If you think he's beyond criticism then that's your entitlement too. But his ill-fated tenure proved to be even worse than I feared it would be at the time - and said so.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostI've missed your cheerful disposition on the site
The fact remains that his squandering of huge sums on bad players has put the club back by several years at the very least and given Rodgers a monumental task in turning our fortunes around.
In the meantime it's a little galling to read about people "loving Kenny" (or King Kenny or KK - take your pick). I was watching Liverpool for many years before he signed for us but have never understood this hero worship stuff and inability to see any wrong in him. He shouldn't have been given the full-time job and now we're paying the price big time

Newcastle had a week to prepare for the game and it showed. I thought they were very well set-up and worked very hard for each other as a team. They also allowed Wisdom the freedom of the pitch and concentrated on closing down the other players which was quite clever.
Quite different to when they played Chelsea 2 days after the Europa League qualifier game earlier in the season. Newcastle played on the Thursday and then again midday on Saturday! Chelsea were basically handed 3 points by the fixture list.

Still cannot believe how Luis controlled that ball...wow...the distance it travelled, the height it came down from, the defender on his back, the keeper closing in....what an incredible goal. Amazing, simply amazing.

Red? Did he touch him? Looked a poor decision to me.

Most of you seem certain that it was a red card. Didn't look like it to me. Let's see the replay shortly.

Let me tell you, he kicks a moving ball a thousand times a day and doesn't miss it once. If he wanted to connect with a standing leg then he
