Whatever it is whether it be poor standard of players, mistakes by Rogers, FSG not backing.... we are 17 points behind first place, 10 points off champs league spot and 4 points away from the relegation zone. We are in a transitional period, players need to be moved on, players need to be brought in & Rogers needs time....... we all know this but the results have been a disgrace and that league position is an embarrassment. We need to see progression under Rogers.. progression in the form of results and moving up the table... i'm all for giving Rogers time, he talks a good game and i like his footballing philosophy but it's a results business and all the talking in the world can't deflect from that.

January will is ****ing massive for us.

FSG won't back him with big money. They are skint. The sooner people realise this the better. It's all about balancing the books with these guys.

Already leaks about how the "summer will be bigger than January" and only going for "high value targets". Buttering us up for **** all happening ala Tom Hicks saying we'd have a massive summer then we sold all our good players.

On the subject of their first goal, I think its ridiculous to say it was Rodger's fault for playing a winger at left back.

Downing is a professional footballer (yeah, yeah, insert joke here!), defending shouldn't be completely alien to him and that situation didn't require any special defensive instincts. He had a 10 yard head start on Lennon and an eternity to have the basic awareness to look around him and spot the run so he could at least make an attempt at defending it.

I know its not ideal playing people out of position, but seriously, theres no excuse for any player in the squad to not at least know what they should have been doing had they been in Downing's position for that attack.

People here claim for lame penalty decisions all the time. It's ridiculous. This was one of them.

Did you watch the game? Or any of the replays? Where did Gallas get any of the ball exactly? More of a penalty that the gerrard one.

Rodgers has to take the blame for goal number one, for playing that ****house Downing at left back. I had thought Henderson was showing encouraging signs but really he does very little and should never be starting. Gerrard needs to stop playing in this deep role, he kept giving the ball away first half and is only an impact when he's making runs around the box. Allen needs a rest. I thought he was world class when he arrived but he has been very average last few games. Tends to give away silly free kicks. Shelvey needs to start. Johnson had one of his poorer games, so did Enrique. Sterling needs to be told to attack every time, not just the odd time.

Our problem is more our soft defence at the moment than our forward line. We are shipping goals too easily, teams need a shot on goal or two to score against us. Hopefully Lucas' return will solve that one. I'd leave out Allen to be honest. Have Gerrard and Shelvey pushing forward. Interesting how the team seemed to abandon the pass-pass-pass instruction second half and went much more direct.

Losing faith that Rodgers knows how to set a team up. Disappointing start to say the least and fourth is a pipe dream at this point.

So we we the better side for 70 mins, we are denied a penalty while they score from a freekick that shouldn't have been given. Sometimes I really hate football.

shouldn't even contemplate 4th spot .....if we finish any higher than 9th or 10th will be a bonus,but i feel with our strongest 11 we should be top 6 if we were playing well
