I think it is valid to question if we do - United have been playing with no traditional defensive midfielders for several seasons and done pretty well (although they have been found out in Europe). Perhaps believing they are a necessity is out dated thinking.

I think Sahin and Allen were intended to be able to play in the deeper midfield roles. Three players to cover one or two slots with Gerrard as another alternative would seem reasonable. We have really struggled to get a midfield three that looks good together though. I wonder if the chopping and changing has helped or hindered us long term.

I've always looked forward to our games, it's make or break for my weekend and I'm usually always up for it. But this game feels like I have to watch it rather than want to if that makes any sense Starting to fall out of love with football a bit.

Yes but unlike us, united can score!

But United are far stronger in other areas. They score so many they tend not to worry, plus the defence has always been fairly solid. We need a base to build from.

Colin Pascoe. His brow is rather large.

He is on the bench though so he is ready enough to play.

Pascoe's just said he's not feeling well, nor are a few others.

Sounded rough too. Watch us win this in style.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will not be at his side's Premier League match at QPR on Sunday because of a virus.
Rodgers, goalkeeper Brad Jones and head of performance Glen Driscoll have been sent home from London with the problem.
Reds' assistant manager Colin Pascoe and first-team coach Mike Marsh will deputise for Rodgers.
"They are not fit to be at the match and any contact with the rest of the squad could cause the bug to spread," said Liverpool club doctor Zaf Iqbal.

Maybe not hearing Rodgers' embarrassing team talk at the start of the game will help the players.

I think we'll see him and probably Sahin next week in the cup, hopefully it'll give them a chance to get involved properly with the team. Didn't notice he was on the bench, last I read he was out until January.

He'll either Skype the team or play a voice recording through the surround sound

                                Assaidi on the bench.

Doubt he gets on though. .

Hate Neville on commentary, great analysis but voice is dull.
