Its a massive if only though. Unfortunately. He's turning into another Agger.Originally posted by Corndog View PostWhat a ridiculous comment. Sturridge is easily one of the most talented players of his generation when fit, genuinely could be world class.
If only the injuries would go away.

So this is what a season without Suarez AND Sturridge looks like. Not as big as a disaster as I thought it might have been.
The silver lining is we have a great amount of room for improvement and two decent strikers could easily see our fortunes change. Maybe FSG see it that way too.
Definitely need to take all the burden off Sturridge's shoulders for sure. If we get the two decent strikers I reckon we can make a good bid for top 4 and a Europa trophy. One tit for another.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Can't say I agree with you though
I think it's been a terrible season performance wise & signings wise masked over by some lucky wins in the league - when you analyse the 13 game unbeaten run we went on were lucky to beat Southampton, Swansea, Burnley away & lucky to draw with Arsenal & even Leicester at home. Ok we were unlucky to draw with Everton at home & the home result against the Mancs could have been different....
Or central defence is terrible; 3 at the back works defensively OK but leaves us so weak in the middle of the park & elsewhere - we've players playing out of position like Markovic who I rate but is never a wing back & a lot of the squad like Allen, Lallana are squad fillers. I rate Moreno but he lacks positional sense; hopefully that will come with experience
The Sterling issue needs sorting quickly; problem is I don’t trust us to spend any money received well at all
The keeper is average – should not be our number 1 & we need at least 2 more forwards on top of the incoming Origi – get rid of Borini, Lambert, Balotelli, Enrique, Lovren & Jones. Thankfully Johnson & Toure are off anyway.
No way am I saying BR should be out but we've a long way to go to challenge top four next season as City will spend big & have a new manager, The Scum will also spend big again as will Chelsea – I also think Arsenal & Spurs will continue to improve, leaving us battling it out for fourth with these two
Problem is I can’t see anything changing sisgning wise as it’s all down to FSG’s transfer policy which by its very nature is very hit & missWhat do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

F*** off!!!

It has been a bad season no doubting it. But this is what a bad season looks like without Suarez and Sturridge. It looks like we're fifth and will probably remain fifth forever if the situation doesn't change.
The rest of your post talks about trying to change the situation. Agreed, we could just go down the same screwed up route we went last summer. But surely that's the worst case scenario right? After all we don't have Suarez or Sturridge leaving this summer. And if we went out and bought Lambert and Balotelli's footballing twins nothing changes. We can't do any worse than last summer/this season.
Rock bottom doesn't look so bad still.
On the other hand if we improve our signings by even 20% we'll suddenly look better. There are better players available this summer (Depay, Lacazette, Iturbe, etc) than there were last summer (only Sanchez). One tit for another.

He should go back to being what we bought him to as, the second most important striker at the club. Course the most important striker at the club this time wont be as ace as Suarez
but still, the point stands
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

He's just being overly negative.Originally posted by Chris View PostWe might have equalised late but you've got to be taking the piss here surely?!

If we keep the squad together and sign a good striker we will be competing again as that is all we really lack. You could make improvements all over the place, but it's the most important player on the pitch that we've seriously lacked this season.
Put a 25 goal a season striker in our team and you have to wonder where we'd be when our highest scorer is on 6. Gerrard has been in and out and is joint top scorer ffs. Mario & Rickie must have about 4 league goals between them. What a disaster. Sturridge has been ****e as well, but at least he's had an excuse.Forwards.......
