Fair enough, you don't like him and prefer average / middling strikers to a world class one coming back and scoring goals on his first start back, and you've taken exception to him because he sulks a bit. Its a very valid point
Thats the only point you made Unless i missed another post somewhere??

    I think he's a brilliant footballer with a **** attitude.

You're putting words in my mouth. Where have i said i prefer average/ middling strikers??? I just think he's a **** bloke and needs his arse kicked for how he's acted this season with these "injuries", where even out esteemed gaffer has called him out on.

Im just saying he wasn't even actually that good the other night, certainly nowhere near his lofty standards. Kinell, anyone would think i said i loathed him and wished he was dead FFS!

All the best strikers have the ability to look like they aren't really influencing a game and then turn the game on its head with a goal or two. I remember our home game with Chelsea a few years ago, 0-0 with about 5 mins to go and then Torres scored 2 at the Kop end.

What's so impressive about Sturridge is that he's done this on his first start after a long lay off.

        Its just mindset I think.

10-15 years ago 2 goals from a striker would have been seen as a good days work. But now they are expected to work a ton more and influence the game in a similar way to a Midfielder. So Harv might have high standards he expects of Sturridge, but its nothing I dont think the manager wouldn't have either.

Pre Torres I would have said Harv was being a bit hyperbolic with describing him as not having a good game. But now, I get it. He needs to do more.

I dont agree with him on the way Sturridge approaches his injuries, but that's a discussion for another day

He doesn't need to "do more" because it's clear he's doing enough after an end product like that. It's his first game back ffs.

How does laughing at a point being made help conversation?

I think its fair to say strikers are expected to do more. It may be his first game back, but teams dont carry passengers. If he is fit enough to start, he is fit enough to press as the manager expects. Sharpness and his sort of in game management will come.

He scored two goals, so that suffices to dismiss any notion that he's not doing enough.

On the pressing side of things, his sheer presence makes defenders nervy as they know they can't give the ball away when he's around. His sheer quality at holding up the ball is better than anyone we have.

I think Fredo makes a valid point about the fact that merely taking the right positions can be as effective as closing players down if you are perceived as a goal threat. It is pretty hard to analyse the indirect contributions of players from a single view of a match.

I think it is pretty hard to dismiss two goals in a demolition of the opposition. I would suggest that Sturridge did at least 'enough'.

United play Rooney and are 1 point off top spot.

That's why Lucas is key to Klopp. Although people initially thought he wouldn't fit into the pressing model, his positioning is vital to cutting out passing lanes of the opposition.

I think he was fine in that game. Did enough and got 2 goals.

I was more trying to see where Harv was coming form though, and its fair to say more is expected from strikers than goals nowadays. (Obviously if he scores 30 goals and does **** all else thats fine too )

Yeah, but on the other side of the coin Chelsea have carried Costa and Fabregas this season and look what its done to them.

I think we can all agree that Willian can't carry an entire team of passengers.

Watched the cup highlights for a third night running and noticed how easy Sturridge makes football look. So easy its as though he's not even arsed. Only truly world class players can make football look so demeaning to their existence.

Those two runs for the goals, he was suitably covered by Cedric and/or Caulker...until he wasn't. Then it looked like **** defending because he was 10 yards clear of either. Both of his runs were not made on the defender's shoulders but 4 yards behind them where he looked like he wasn't arsed. He didn't arc his runs because he had a good 4 yards to run straight. He gave the linesman no reason to make an incorrect close decision. Just beautiful football.
