Maybe instead of trying to get him to 100% before playing him we should just play him whenever he can play until he crocks it again and then wait until he's ready to play again and put him straight in again.

He doesn't seem like the type of player that needs much time to get up to speed and start scoring after an injury lay off.
Thing is though fella that it's been established that he won't play unless he's feeling 100%

And regardless of those admittedly terrible looking games played, if it is possible that he can fix his issues then I think we should. Getting someone else of his quality would be absurdly expensive

There might well come a time when the professional medical staff decide that he won't ever be able to sustain the levels we required, but I don't think that's happened
That's true but paying Sturridge around £140,000 a week (or £7,280,000 a year) for a dozen or perhaps a dozen and a half appearances a season is also absurdly expensive.

I didn't think he was on £140k? Benteke is though apparently
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

A bit of guesswork on my part. It states here he's on £150k a week including incentives which he obviously hasn't hit so I've knocked a bit off the headline figure

Sturridge is an amazingly talented professional footballer with the opportunity to live out every lad's dream each week. The idea that he doesn't want to play is ****ing absurd and those of us putting that idea about need to have a long hard think.

Now there may be issues around his willingness to play whilst in pain but 1. playing whilst in pain is not sustainable; 2. playing whilst injured ****s players up- Michael Owen and Fernando Torres are the obvious examples. I don't blame him for not wanting to end up that way.

Is he **** going to West Ham for £18m - tell them to double it and we'll consider it. In the meantime lets just support the player whilst he rebuilds his career and hope he gets back to his best for us.

We've had top strikers for as long as I've been a fan (24 years now!).

Rush, Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez, Sturridge but now the latter is injured, we have no top striker to call on. It all feels a bit weird.

How dare you forget Aldridge. Best Liverpool team (1987-88) ever.

                  2016 - 24 = 1992. Aldridge played before I was into football.

Daniel Sturridge's poor injury record at Liverpool means the 26-year-old England striker's cost to the club is now a staggering £542,000 per goal. (Independent)

Which is still probably less than the majority of our forwards over the last decade.

If you could get back to slamming Sturridge, that would be super.

                        Thank you.

Jurgen Klopp has denied that he's running out of patience with injury-plagued Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.

The England international has missed the Reds' past 11 matches since damaging a hamstring against Newcastle last month.

Plans for his latest comeback have repeatedly been shelved because he's been unable to train regularly due to a number of muscle problems.

Klopp has already ruled him out of Saturday's Premier League trip to Norwich City and the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Stoke City at Anfield next Tuesday.

Sturridge has played just 108 minutes of football since Klopp was appointed in October.

His prolonged absence has led to speculation that Liverpool would look to off-load him, but the Reds boss insists that's not the case and he's happy to wait for the 26-year-old.

Klopp said: “Make a decision about what? I have two-and-a-half years left on my contract and I've been here three or four months. That's not a problem.

“I had 15 months with Ilkay Gundogan where we had to all wait but it was his back and we had no chance to force it. It's not a back problem with Daniel but it's the muscle.

“Out of responsibility, we have to do everything we can to give him the physical strength to be able to play Premier League football.

“We all know it's pretty easy for him when he's fit, but at this moment he isn't. We cannot change this and I am not thinking about making a general decision (about him) at the moment.

“To have a player like Daniel in your squad is always a good situation, and when it's not possible to use him, it's not a good situation.

“He's not with the team at the moment, that's right. But we have enough games this season when we hopefully can use him but not, if nothing happens, for at least the next 10 days.

“You can't be nearly fit, then playing, then injured again, then nearly fit, then playing, then injured again, then during training something like injured again, and then you say after five days 'come on' to pick the day you get him and then he gets the next injury.

“We have to patient. That's not my best skill to be honest. But in this case I have no other choice.”

                              Doesn't sound best pleased!

News that will almost certainly rile Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Striker Daniel Sturridge has not played for the Reds since 6 December due to injury.

And the England player's return has been delayed by at least 10 days.

Klopp said: “You can’t be nearly fit, then playing, then injured again, then nearly fit, then playing, then injured again, then during training something like injured again, and then you say after five days ‘come on’ to pick the day you get him and then he gets the next injury.

“We have to be patient. That’s not my best skill, to be honest! But in this case I have no other choice.”
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
