Still capable of making losses though. Regardless its a massive spend with little to **** all in return. It's a shame it turned out that way and the only mitigating factor (from a financial POV is the transfer fee was small )
His contract runs out after next year. I'd doubt we'll be in any rush to renew it.
Jürgen Klopp has confirmed Daniel Sturridge will miss Saturday’s Premier League opener at Watford, but is set to come back into contention for next week’s trip to Hoffenheim.
The striker is currently recovering from a thigh injury sustained during the Audi Cup clash with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena last week.
However, Klopp has revealed Sturridge was ‘close’ to being involved in the squad for Vicarage Road tomorrow and will likely be ready to travel to Germany for the Champions League play-off first leg early next week.
The manager told his pre-Watford press conference at Melwood: “Daniel had a fantastic pre-season, but it was a little thing.
“He is close – he was already close for this weekend, but now for Tuesday it is pretty sure he is ready.”
6m a year benefit. I'm past the stage of replacing him, he plays in so few games to make a difference. Certainly not a ROI anyway.
This is the crux of the matter. I was kinda hoping a good preseason may tempt a desperate bid but he didn't even see that out.
Exactly, a bit of money saved which would likely be partial depending on the deal made, and what of the footballing impact? Limited quite probably, but it's not none at all, we're already not all that well placed for centre forwards. So without a replacement I don't think it's a smart move.
