To be honest even if he were to get fit I don't know that he would be the player that he was. When he has played in the last couple of years he has been a shadow of his former self. Now he might not have been fully fit then, but I think that the injuries have ruined him.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Surely that's reliable enough.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostHis contract is due to end on 30.06.2019, according to some website.
Supposedly on 120k a week according to some other website so would cost us £6m in wages to keep until then.Last edited by Kenneth; 03-07-18, 11:58 AM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

He'd be an excellent squad player if you could rely on him to be fit. If he was always there as a sub when you needed him he'd be worth keeping.Originally posted by Assassin View PostThese statistics make him an excellent squad player. He seemed to function well injury wise when used as a squad player.
It has to be so frustrating for him, he wants to play regulally but his body isnt up to it. If he accepts his bodies limitations he could play for many years to come in a lesser role
He's not so he's a pretty useless squad player to be honest.

He had always been an explosive player, quick changes of direction and bursts of movement to create space etc. Either his body cant do it anymore or at least he doesn't believe it can because he's turned into Heskey (More goals in the knockout phases of world cups than Messi and Ronaldo combined). And he's not good at the role, except the falling over and looking forlorn bit.
Champo response - Hold on and see if anyone else comes in but make sure you sell him this window and don't have him stuck there draining resources and contributing nothing.
A real what could have been story as there was a 'toptop' player in there somewhere before it all went wrong (ENGLAND YOU CANTS!!!)"that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

I think the fully fit Sturridge ofor 2-3 years ago would be an excellent option, but I don't think that a performance in the last couple of years has shown him close to that - yes he might not have been fully fit in that time and his performances suffer, but I think injuries have taken their toll and he isn't that player anymore.
And as you say that's without considering his lack of ability to stay fit. He was a great player for us for a couple of years, and it's a shame it ends like this but he doesn't have a future here, we need to focus on other players now.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

So the doors not shut on his Liverpool career yet or Jurgen’s talking him up to sell him. You be the judge.Originally posted by Bender View Post

I've mentioned this before.Originally posted by Frenchie View PostCould Sturridge adapt and become a 10? Some of his through balls were sublime
However, given how frequently he breaks down, he's done here. One pre-season game against a team in the sixth tier of English football, whereby they brought on trialists in the second half, isn't going to change that.
