To be honest even if he were to get fit I don't know that he would be the player that he was. When he has played in the last couple of years he has been a shadow of his former self. Now he might not have been fully fit then, but I think that the injuries have ruined him.

No idea mate but you might be right. If so then absolutely take it

        Surely that's reliable enough.

Supposedly on 120k a week according to some other website so would cost us £6m in wages to keep until then.

He'd be an excellent squad player if you could rely on him to be fit. If he was always there as a sub when you needed him he'd be worth keeping.

He's not so he's a pretty useless squad player to be honest.

He had always been an explosive player, quick changes of direction and bursts of movement to create space etc. Either his body cant do it anymore or at least he doesn't believe it can because he's turned into Heskey (More goals in the knockout phases of world cups than Messi and Ronaldo combined). And he's not good at the role, except the falling over and looking forlorn bit.

Champo response - Hold on and see if anyone else comes in but make sure you sell him this window and don't have him stuck there draining resources and contributing nothing.

A real what could have been story as there was a 'toptop' player in there somewhere before it all went wrong (ENGLAND YOU CANTS!!!)

I think the fully fit Sturridge ofor 2-3 years ago would be an excellent option, but I don't think that a performance in the last couple of years has shown him close to that - yes he might not have been fully fit in that time and his performances suffer, but I think injuries have taken their toll and he isn't that player anymore.

And as you say that's without considering his lack of ability to stay fit. He was a great player for us for a couple of years, and it's a shame it ends like this but he doesn't have a future here, we need to focus on other players now.

I doubt the passion for the challenge is there anymore tbh. Sell now for whatever we can get & wish him all the best, just not against us.

So the doors not shut on his Liverpool career yet or Jurgen’s talking him up to sell him. You be the judge.

I don't infer either of your conclusions from that tweet.

                      It's hardly a glowing endorsement.
                      Oh I don't know.

He's had a very positive week & today he looked really good.
Make of that what you want then.

Agree with Dom. I think the 2nd sentence in that Klopp quote is probably the most telling.

Could Sturridge adapt and become a 10? Some of his through balls were sublime

                                I've mentioned this before.

However, given how frequently he breaks down, he's done here. One pre-season game against a team in the sixth tier of English football, whereby they brought on trialists in the second half, isn't going to change that.
